Maybe I only photo the best bits [emoji56]!You seem to have had fantastic strikes with your crops @scholland anything you'd change or do differently for future?
Oh and I've bought a chisel plough to tear through dung heaps and feed ring areas.Maybe I only photo the best bits [emoji56]!
In all seriousness it has gone well. Only bit I've had to go over again is pictured somewhere above and is filling in okish now.
Going into thick grass I'd round up earlier and leave for fortnight or so before sowing. Perhaps a tine drill would be better here?
Advice on here to get fert week before drilling which I think is fair enough but I'd not put it all on then.
Storey worm remain a big concern.
Still not sure the best way out of grass but sew some rape irg into grass to try.
Irg volunteers despite round up in another bit of sweedes are a pain but I think there will still be a decent crop there.
2 customers fields have had a poor strike, not dd fault and I will probably just work away with my own from now on.....
I imagine this time next year I will have many different theories!
It's good fun and I've enjoyed the challenge and I'm amazed at the diversity of crops such a simple old drill has established.

Just sell stores really so we chose plantain. Hoggs and their lambs on it and I'll weigh them soon.Grows like stink alright,be interesting to see what you think of it re lamb thrive
Thoughts here is plantain for suckling and chicory and clovers for finishing
I'd looked at the new Moore uni drill at groundswell and other than the gutter roller and row spacing I couldn't see much difference between that and a vaddy rapid with the front discs/tines etc lifted out of work? Would I be right then in thinking the vaddy could do the same sort of job or am I speaking total nonsense?
