I've done it here too, last year after spring beans the wheat is looking the best of the lot, light ground tho, drilled straight into sprayed off grass before and that did well, works well into the right conditions

I've directly sown a lot of brassicas with a Rapid into stubbles over the years. As above, closing the slot when wet, more soil movement and hairpinning straw into the slot were the main problems.

Same as above here, only tried one year before switching, if you don’t use the system disc it really struggled with closing the slot and seed depth, neighbour did the same and also went to the trouble of taking the system disc off, he’s sold that drill now and got a DD drill.
I wouldn’t describe it as a complete disaster though and on kinda land it may well work. Biggest thing I noticed in that year was how much seed got affected by the pre em chemical.

I'm wondering if I could make it work with some mods, have my old system agrilla tine 3m lying in the shed, maybe follow with a guttler roller to help close the slots

i was thinking the same thing, buying a rapid without front attachment and using it as a DD because of the isobus and fertilizer placement
