The less messing around with freshly calved sucklers the better, so they probably weighed up the pros and cons and decided no painkiller was better for OUR welfare if it got the job done quicker.
Its more the ease on my own of not having to have a syringe with me as well as trying to get it done when they are few days old and you are have a tussle with themWe bought a tube but never used it. Would have given pain relief for our suckler calves if we’d used it. What does a shot of metacam cost… £1.30ish for 1.5ml?
What don’t u like about the Larsson syringe? No scissors or tape here either. Just fold the hair back, stick a dollop of paste on, fold the hair back over and keep calf away from the cow for an hour.
Used Dr Larsson over Hornex for the first time last year and don't like the syringe. Ended up filling a Hornex tub and using a lollipop stick as before.
Larrson stuff is a lot better than hornex.I turn the dial on the tubeWhat don’t u like about the Larsson syringe?
I much prefer it to the hornex. The hornex stuff goes runny, and can leak down the face if you put too much on. Whereas the larsson stuff stays put being more gluey.
I put a bit of marker pen on the wormer tube dial so I know how much I’m putting on !

That's probably where I went wrong. I tried to apply it directly and put too much on. At a busy time of year I didn't persevere, just squirted a heap of it into the empty Hornex tub and carried on. Will definitely try putting it on the stick first when this year comes around.Larrson stuff is a lot better than hornex.I turn the dial on the tube
1/4 turn at a time.about he size of a pea.more than enough to do the job.I do put it on a lollipop stick to apply it as I find It easier that way.
hi considering useing paste, when do you take the tape off and does the paste not come off when the tape is removed , thanks
