To be honest, I could have an easy life the farm used to run 200 cows and 150 ewes and everything was fattened 6 years ago This year we lambed 1250 ewes 160 cows and 67 heifers and sell bullocks store. To be honest my heads fried have periods just sit down and cry or feel like im going mad. My brother had baby aswell she spent a week in hospital during lambing. Just the amount one can do is mindblowing if you put your mind to it. I could run more ewes if got in help at busy times. But going change things up as this no way to live ones life. Just i think alot of people make life harder than it really needs to be. I am single which isnt going to change working these hours.

You have done the right thing here :) recognised there is a problem that needs solving and you're sorting it. Many farmers struggle to recognise this, but it shows great strength of you to have recognised the issue in hand ;) always remember... Your health above everything. If you're doing a job that is seriously impacting your well being, then it's time to change it up a little. Find other ways of bringing that cash in, which you need :) I hope it all goes well for you. Keep posting, you're not alone x
All the best

Went to the darts last night and watch folk through pints over each other was what i was needing and got catch up with my mates. Think i just spend too much time on my own and take it all to serious when it goes wrong which is a good thing and a bad thing. And spread myself to thin but we live and learn. Thanks for the reply @waterbuffalofarmer
Tell some of your mates what you have been going through and that you feel tied to the farm somewhat and need dragging away from it now and again, and remember when they do set up a night out don’t say you are too busy get on and get out there, how old are you bread bin if ydmma, any hobbies?

At 27 you have plenty of time to meet someone special, only happened to me at 46! respect for the triathlon i’d be knackered just watching! Sounds like you and brother have really built up the farm and your competitive side keeps pushing you, no shame in throttling back a little, have you watched that new tv show, think it’s love in the countryside or something, Sara cox presents it been very well done what I have seen so far!

Wondered how everybody’s doing now the weather is a bit better and the worst of the spring rush is over. I have suddenly got my appetite back and some energy, even went back out after tea and spread some slurry Monday evening. Also allowing myself a few days of and heading to London next week to see a few friends. It’s ages since I felt like I am actually enjoying life and it does feel good.
I think it’s partly due to a change in medication but I am sure the sunshine and working in green fields that are not a sea of mud is making a big difference as well

Glad your feeling a bit better, could I be cheeky and ask the name of the medication your taking? [emoji51]

For sure, I have been taking all sorts of medication after the injury to my leg mostly against pain, blood thinners and antibiotics. I also take a thyroid replacement drug and one to help me sleep.
I have never slept well all my life but with the pain etc and on going anxiety, acute post traumatic depression I’ve not been sleeping much at all. I also recently started taking sertalin and changed the sleeping tablets plus reduced the thyroxine, this and getting off the antibiotics and warfarin seems to have made a big difference. Still get a fair bit of pain but my energy and vitality is back and I feel like living again.

I was on Citalopram for years but was changed on to Sertalin a couple of months ago and feel a lot calmer wouldn’t go as far as happier but by god it makes me so tired.

Its been over 4 weeks since taking the digestive enzymes (HCI) and I can honestly say I feel like the fog has lifted. I have no random anxiety attacks and no sudden lows. There was an interesting psychiatrist on Jeremy vine 3 afternoons ago who has written a book on how he believes body inflammation has a depressing state on the brain. I truly believe this in the case (not every case) that long term (no reason) anxiety and depression can be caused by other things going wrong in the body. I also feel hunger properly prob due to the stomach and bowels working. Think the light mornings have really picked me up too.

The psychiatrist also said a 3rd of people do not respond to ADs. Prob a placebo effect on some but negative on others. Thought that was interesting. Going down the AD was not an option for me - side effects etc.
