And speaking of dogs - my new Collie pal. :)

IMGP0043.JPG

This is 'Skye' - very much a work in progress, failed family pet, hopefully all ready for a new life as my companion/working dog. So far, so good, very sharp and trainable, and a great incentive to get out of bed in the mornings.

What a strangely beautiful dog. The first thing that came to my mind was "African Bush Dogs". What bread are they?

That's the blue merle colouring! You see it in collies and kelpies. But these are just pets - I don't have the work - or, sadly, the expertise - for a working dog. The mother is Jack Russell x chihuahua and the pups, three quarters chi.

Thoughts on dogs and other things............

recently, our daughter's mother-in-law visited us and she had with her a large Labradoodle bitch. The dog had a lovely temperament but I was puzzled by her desire to nibble me. The Labradoodle, not the daughter's mother-in-law! Using her front incisors, she repeatedly nibbled me as if trying to alleviate an irritation. You often see dogs doing a similar action on them selves. The action didn't hurt but I first thought she was going to bite me. The dog, not the daughter's mother-in-law! :)

Well with all this talk of dogs, lost dogs, and dog breeds; it set me thinking about some times that the wife and I spent in Norfolk. I heard local folk tales of a phantom black dog that went by the name of "Black Shuck". Said to be a seven foot giant of a dog, it was supposed to have haunted those regions and down into Suffolk. Having taken the tales with several large pinches of salt, I just totally forgot about them. That is until recently, when I read a report of archaeologist uncovering the bones of a seven foot dog in the grounds of Leiston Abbey.

Do you suppose that there are any links between the tales of Black Shuck and references to "the black dog of depression"?

I do have some graphic video somewhere, if you are really at sea, though on that occasion the object of the chihuahua's lust was a teddy bear...:eek:

:LOL::LOL::LOL:You mean like a computer-savvy psychologist?

Seriously I find it quite hard to take on board that video is gone, to the extent that even using the word seems (to some :sneaky:) as if you started talking about horseless carriages. I can remember it being the new thing and absolutely amazing.

Hi all, how does the calendar days affect everyone else? It is maybe because this is the last day of what has been a hellish year for me. My wife and I split up through the summer, I thought I was coping ok. But I liken myself to a duck cool,calm,collected on the surface. But paddling like hell against the current underneath!! The current seems to have got stronger today .
