Interestingly there is a bible passage that says tell no man your dream but it would appear that the best translation could be tell no man your plans. There was a recent scientific report that said when we tell people about our dreams/plans our subconscious feels that in the telling we have actually completed the plan and robs us of momentum. But then again some sod may steal off with our ideas! ;)

Sadly I have, in the past, met old people who have given up dreaming and said to me .........' I have now reached my three score and ten and am living on borrowed time'. :(

Unfortunately the above folk hadn't read the passage that says 'Your old men shall dream dreams'.

Some of these abusers are actually getting their 'cone-uppence' these days though as their past crimes are publicly revealed and they are being held to account.....
Abuse is abuse, people can hide behind religion or politics but that's no excuse, I've often said an idea can not be held accountable for the actions of an individual because every individual has to be accountable for their actions and those who hide or manipulate the deception of holding others to account are equally complicit.

Good morning,

are you up early, or are you up late, or perhaps are you having trouble sleeping? The abused are wounded people and need their wounds healing not retribution and present day children need protecting from abusers.

Strangely the abused often, unknowingly, marry abusers and abusers marry the abused and so the cycle goes on. Reportage of abuse, whether it be sexual, physical, or psychological, needs reporting ASAP and protection of others brought about but having said that, the abused still need protecting and healing.

Think I wrote that after breakfast...
The point ( if not poorly written) that I was trying to convey was abuse is abuse regardless of what form and it's unacceptable, but equally unacceptable is the fact that often others know what is happening and do nothing or worse hide the fact so the offending continues or prevents justice being served.

Well put! The child, or person abused, is often too afraid tell of the abuse but upon telling of the abuse is not believed.

As children we have great trust in our elders and have very simplistic beliefs. If you ever tell anyone I will murder your mother ....... if you ever tell anyone the zombies will dig their way out of their graves and come and get you ...... if you ever tell anyone monsters will get you ..... if you ever tell anyone I will drown your dog ......... and so on ad infinitum; or simply I love you and this is our special secret!

Then, of course, there is bullying in childhood and in later life; even on into old age.

Or you wont go to heaven....... worst offenders on the planet. Children not believed by mothers who dont want the shame of the rest of the clergy for reporting it. Bishops moving priests to different parrishs instead of doing what you would think right.... Pathetic, and I hope they all rot in hell.
If this is the work of "god" , then I'm glad I have no faith.

The church (well, those guilty in this regard at least) have zero moral credibility left IMHO and have an absolute mountain to climb to recover any.

If I ever hear another sermon I will laugh in his/her face!

I didn’t even go to the harvest festival this year. Most of the parish are anti farming vegetarian retired nimby public servants so I can really do without the snide comments and annual lecture from the vicar about destroying the planet and being nasty to animals. They all drive huge brand new motors, the vicar included so I don’t really need lessons from them any more. It’s surprising what you can work out for yourself without distortions and vested interests sticking their spoke in.

I am sorry the parish are not supportive. The Harvest Festival was a big deal in the villages I grew up in 30 years ago, and it was genuine celebration and recognition of the work that goes into the production of food, something that we can’t live without. This lack of connection with our food is a huge problem and a great shame.

I love going to church. It's my special calm time. My children would enjoy Quaker school but it's very expensive and quite far away.

On the flip side, I can barely hide my contempt for the modern church of England. By historical legacy, I'm treasurer of my local church which in finally shutting after six years of zero attendance. But in the ten or so years I've been to various synod meetings I can say that a worse group of apologist Gammons you'll never meet.

I recall one meeting, we'd just had the usual "parish share going up" discussion when thoughts turned to declining numbers. The old dears refused to listen when I said that actually church attendenve in the area was going up; that the highest increases were in progressive Christian groups; and that the local evangelical Christian group had had to move premises twice now to fit them in.

What they had in common were a welcoming atmosphere (and doughnuts), whereas the Anglicans were sour faced, hat wearing bitches sipping tea from institutional teasets, nibbling a dry end of Margaret's awful cake.

Anglicanism is seemingly "building worship" with added dollops of misery.

Same around here ...all the 'free' churches are expanding rapidly . It only the Anglican and RC that are declining . Local Harvest Festival a couple of yrs ago and the Vicar was telling the comgregation how the farmers were responsible for killing the planet . Me and he had harsh words after at the harvest supper !!

The happy clappys run creches, children's groups, adult education, drug rehabilitation, offender outreach, mental health support, homeless shelters etc.

They reckon the local diocese won't have enough money left to pay priests in five years time. They can always find a few million quid to fix the cathedral though.

It's going down. To think we've had the Bible in English for 500 years, and these shysters have still managed to keep going despite feathering their golden beds wile watching the poor starve.

Religion is not ancient building preservation.

Yes ...I wasn't very helpful when they were trying to raise money for the food ....I said "why not knock the building down and sell the materials for salvage and build a new 'fit for purpose' building ......the more vocal ones were the ones who did or do absolutely nothing to keep it going !!
