Please please over Christmas talk to friends and family who you suspect may be suffering over the festive period. It can be lonely and yesterday we (as a family) lost a loved one due to this. Let's take more care of our loved ones

So sorry to hear this Willy. Bless you and your family this Christmas.

Boggy.
We also have to realize that a family member would be the last person in the world that a sufferer would want to open their heart to, for fear of being judged and condemned. That is one of the reasons why the Samaritans, FCN, and other organisations can be valuable in providing a nonjudgmental listening and support service for those that are pursued by black dog and other problems.

If we fall off a tractor and suffer a compound fracture of an arm or a leg, we would be quick to get on the mobile and ask for help but strangely folk don't seem to seek help for psychological, financial, marital, and other problems until much further down the line; or perhaps never.
Absolutely hit the nail on the head there Christoph, if anyone takes anything from this thread, it could be condensed into those 2 paragraphs. The "healthy" reading through should read that bit again.
Hope everyone is having a bearable or better christmas!!

Can you post up a picture here? Of the dog, not the wife.

I do hope this ends well with a familiar whine at the door on the stroke of dinnertime.

It did:):):):):):).

Bizarre but out next door neighbour spotted her best part of ten miles away. He tried to call her but she ran from him, he called us straight away (thanks mobile phones) and waited untill we got there. We spent about an hour hopeing we were following her, getting dark, and our paths crossed in the nick of time.
Just can't say how relieved we are, as mrs cz doesn't have kids, this dog is far more than "just a dog" to her. Quiet fond of her myself too.
Thank you for the interest in this little three day episode and we are starting to get over having the worst Christmas ever already:)(y)

But it's like they are pre-programmed to be more than just a dog, isn't it. I have just said goodbye to the last of our first ever litter of pups - he went to his new home yesterday- and though I only had him for a couple of days as he and his brother and sister were at my daughter's, the place feels empty without him. I never realised the extent to which dogs are born with the need to love and be loved. It was so obvious in these pups from the moment they could wag their little tails.
