Oooh not far away, took many a spud down beach road years ago, did you eat at Bevans restaurant ? One camp is derelict now. No coypu, before my time, but I can't believe they caught them all.

Never dined at Bevans, as I can recall but if my memory serves me right the camp site was called "Sundowner"; or something like that.

Our dog Sid, a Labradoodle, loved the place. It was always a long drive down and back from the Liverpool area but we loved it.

How are we all doing today? Anyone struggling? Anyone making good progress?

Had some tightness in the chest (not wallet) and some shortness of breath accompanied by the occasional sharp chest pain since early January. Going to pop down to the docs come Monday and consult her about some potential exercise routines (walking).

Last time I visited the surgery seeking some advice and guidance concerning the onset of arthritis in me hips and lower back, she said......." you have got to remember Christopher, you are not twenty-one any more"! Not a lot of help really!!! Worked it out for me self. Stopped running up and down the stairs so often and started using the wife's chair lift. Eased the hip pain better than pain killers.

Decisions made whilst I was depressed, anxious, or angry were never particularly good decisions, so I can see the immense wisdom in Flossie's advice.

Not always easy though, when one is pressed by almost intolerable burdens. I don't know if a burden shared is a burden halved but I do know that it helps.

How are the kids doing?

Have been officially diagnosed with bad depression, family made me go down the route of therapy/meds etc... which tbh, i am thankful for, but it only does so much :banghead: Every time i step back and try to start again or pick up the pieces, it all seems to fall apart again before ive hardly begun....

getting the meds right is crucial....point is if you have high blood pressure you take pills...same with most depression eg not enough seratonin production....so no shame in meds ....or point in trying to keep off/stop them....what works is important IMO:)

Fully agree! meds definitely help, but have ADHD too..... more meds for that which have a depressive side effect:banghead: if i dont take them, everythings great, nothing bothers me too much, but nothing gets done:facepalm: all swings and roundabouts.....
Trying to get a job that is satisfactory is a nightmare atm, Close family etc dont come from a farming background and dont support the idea of me farming. I lost all the land i used to rent when my depression started, so left with nothing. Now looking for a job, but cant stick an office, even with excellent pay.... to me its not all about money!! (surprisingly:sneaky::whistle:) Whenever i have ever got into any kind of farming it has generally been enjoyable and profitable and life is pretty satisfactory, but i just dont have the support to go the whole hog and get stuck in.

No shame in taking meds but above all things don't just stop taking them without advice and supervision. Oh, alcohol and meds don't mix very well either and can make things worse.

Plenty of people in here that understand farming problems and the associated troubles that can come with them.

Also a number of organisations that specialise in helping folk who are going through similar problems with depression/anxiety.

If you would like to pm me, I am more than happy to accept your pm. I know very little about farming and all it's associated problems but I do know that there is a way through the minefield of depression/anxiety and you "can" make it through into a better day.

First post on this topic.

Been struggling with depression for about a year now-bought on by work related stress/bullying. Thought I was on the road to recovery a few weeks ago as I was feeling a lot better, but last week I felt as low as I had done for months. this meant another week off work.

Now I'm worrying about going back to work although there's no real reason to be worried.
Done CBT on the net but now have a face to face appt booked.

Sometimes it seems that I spend all my time just imagining what can go wrong.

Anyone got any thoughts or advice?

If it was me, I'd look for another job where you are more appreciated, but I don't know the situation.

We can all learn to adapt and cope up to a point but sometimes you just got to say I'm outta here. Done it myself and never regretted it. Might have to take a lesser job and rebuild your career but sometimes that's better than putting up with too much.
