Hi just wondering
I got my field mulched today and I want to know when should I now spray it with mcpa and then how long after till I can spread the fertiliser?
I have another field with soft green rushes I plan on spraying with mcpa and how long after that till I can spread fertiliser?
Thanks

You can apply the fertiliser anytime.

You are best to cut the rushes down as low as you can first thing in the spring (or perhaps not until now this year given that you may not have been able to travel) and then leave them well alone until mid June when they are growing hard and about 12 inches tall and green and happy looking. Then you spray them with full rate MCPA and some 2,4D and adjuvant. they will turn yellow, stop growing and die away and leave you with very few next year. These can then be spot sprayed with a product called thrust and blue marker dye using a knapsack.
