sad will wait for the official outcome before commenting which is what a lot of the commenters should have done before posting
It says the car was hit by a detached trailer. If that is the case I wonder if the tractors owner will be treated in the same way as the owner of Grittenham haulage?

went to a NFU meeting the other day about road regulations for tractors and all the big boys want to do is go faster and pull more weight

Stobarts also have a habit of selling units secondhand with mis-matched brake shoes on the same axle [emoji15]

It all depends on how the vehicle is purchased
Shurley if you buy a truck you remove the wheels and check all brakes or at least look throo the inspection holes
I take my hat off to you for noticing shutch a dangerous thing

Bought direct ex Stobarts by a friend farmer/haulage contractor and noted at 1st 6 weekly check that one side had narrower brake shoes on so obviously had to replace them - quite a few years ago now but still not setting a good example [emoji107]

Please make sure you check your vehicles are safe to be driven on the highway and is road worthy , we all hate more red tape so it's in your best interest to do thing properly, as to some of the comments on the gazzette site they are justified, we all seen farm vehicles with no lights when dark, no number plates, no brakes and moo poo not cleaned up etc 5 minutes checking your vehicle could save you a lot of hassle if things go wrong and if you find some wrong don't risk it

Respect works both ways

Put number plates one on each side of towing vehicle (if Agri or works truck) one less thing to worry about and then do the other checks on 25 or 30 trailer changes per day x 4 mins per changeover = 2 hours a day less productive / one quarter of most folks working day. But it HAS to be done so maybe an extra tractor and trailer and driver is not a luxury[emoji848]

Quite agree with you, what all these people seem to forget is that they can go faster and with heavier loads now if they want and legally as well, it just means that they have to adhere to the same regs as a lorry, simples l personally think that the changes they made to the weights is quite sensible
