No. I haven't been 'trying' to tell you, I have told you; I have been 'trying' to educate you... :banghead:

Brexit is primarily about sovereignty and democracy; the medium to long term financial gains are a happy side benefit. If people had been told the truth before joining the EC / EU, that they would not only be subordinate but would have to subsidise their nearest competitors to their own expense, nobody in their right mind would have allowed it to happen.

As it is, surely nobody in their right mind would carry on bitching and whining for over four years about a democratic vote they lost, and about something that is now, how shall I put it, a fait accompli, upon which they have no effect whatsoever, and which just eats them up, would they...? :)

Well enjoy your imaginary sovereignty, I will stick with the money. :D

I don`t have much knowledge about the predicament of ex pats but those who stayed behind pay tax on the pension and spend it in the UK thus returning some of it to the economy. I recall that some years back the government stopped paying state pensions out to ex pats (Mainly in Australia and NZ) so what has changed? We joined the European Economic Community made up of several countries in order to make trade more fluid. If some take this as a signal to depart these shores and live in another European country that is their choice. If they thought that this integration thing could not be halted and thrown into reverse or that the EU monster that the EEC has become absorbed would last forever they were deluded.
But you knew this when you went. You knew this before the fact.
This is being changed and the UK is going back on what it agreed.
I have no problem when after the end of the year you know this is what will happen. Its the reneging on the agreement is the problem.

You don’t think it’s a good thing to help neighbors?
Glad your not mine; cooperation is alive and well in this neighbourhood 👍
Not what I wrote and not what I have written before now. There is a world of difference between 'help' and subsidy, of course, being a EUrophile you prefer its newspeak, 'competences' and so forth.

Well enjoy your imaginary sovereignty, I will stick with the money. :D
Hmm, deep, the UK is now sovereign again, even despite you not liking it and sulking a lot; it may be hard to accept, but you haven't achieved anything, at all.

If you are so happy about your 'money', why won't you stop the whining? It just doesn't add up, if you were genuinely pleased you wouldn't be so bl**dy miserable and would stop the carping. :)

Actually I find the fact that you can’t see the long term benefits of helping struggling near neighbours as desperately sad...
For you.
I’m sorry😕

It’s no wonder we just can’t see eye to eye on this👍

"Brexit trade talks between the UK and the EU have been put on hold after the two sides said "conditions for an agreement are not met".

The bloc's chief negotiator Michel Barnier said he and Downing Street's David Frost had agreed to "pause" talks on a deal while they brief their principals on the state of play of the negotiations.

Mr Barnier said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister Boris Johnson would "discuss the state of play" on Saturday afternoon.

It comes after a week of intense negotiations in London."

But that was part of the contract , as an EU member your citizens could live and work anywhere and the contributions you paid would be taken into account.
If the above story was a Brit and the dastardly Germans were refusing him , can you imagine the headlines in the Mail and Express?
You seem quite happy if the boot is on your foot but switch it over and you all whine like snotty little children.

The Germans are free to make their own rules as they like
As for whining I'm quite happy with my pension arrangements, what about you?

Firstly, he's said he wants a deal, he's been on the news doing that, a lot; secondly, it's rather amusing how short the average remoaner's memory is and how genuinely honest they are:

I doubt that, you are just writing what you think is the sort of put-down that does a bit of virtue-flagging for you at the same time. Intellectually that's sociology A-level student standard... deliberately misconstrue something and then set off on a self-righteous criticism of it., a poor effort even for you.

In fact I'm on the record here many times stating that I think help should be given when genuinely necessary; beyond that no, and certainly not persistently to our own obvious disadvantage.

But, anyway, you don't really believe in it yourself; when have you called for huge amounts of money to be handed over to farmers in North Africa? That's closer to France than much of the EU, it's far poorer too. Or have I missed your campaign?

No, I’m not against international aid👍.
I didn’t do A levels, as I’ve said before, I had to leave school at 15 to help our failing family business. Sorry for my fathers failings to be able to send me along to uni; twice
