Deeds

The farm in question has been left to me and my three sisters, I along with a firm of solicitors and one of the hostile sisters have been appointed as executors of the will, I have been asked by the solicitor to locate the deeds to the farm as it needs to be registered with the land registry, after searching and contacting various solicitors and the bank, I came to the conclusion the deeds had to be with my father, bingo, yes they are, but my sisters are refusing to let me have them, this includes the one sister who is an executor of the will, I do not think she is fit to be an executor as needs supports workers and has mental health issues, should she be obstructing the duties of an executor?

She shouldnt be obstructing, the courts take a dim view of that but they have to do something quite serious to get removed. There are certain rules etc that you should follow as executor

Solicitors as executors? Yikes.
In some cases I can understand this occurring, executors can be a law unto themselves, especially greedy ones.
As with all families there are numerous "grey areas" where things have occurred in a certain manner for almost a generation but then when the music stops only then do you find out.
Still, they say a person is defined by his/her actions, a great believer in "What goes around comes around" and some people despite having all the tea in China are lonely unhappy people with zero respect from others and in reality achieve very little in life satisfaction in the grand scheme of things.

Also using solicitors you dont tend to get paperwork disappear unless they're useless, also if you only have the one executor, they have free rein to do as they want as the deceased is no more so you only have the executors word, which in some cases are just lies.

This is very true but it will be at £50/email or phonecall.
If you are only paying 50 quid it probably time to get someone a bit better. That said, the fact that the OP has come on here asking the question rather than his solicitor sorting it tells you a lot.

Yes. Never, ever appoint Solicitors as Executors. By all means engage one to assist, but the ability to be flexible in ligal choices is important.
Very true,
And as it is perfectly legal for anyone to charge for doing it out of the estate,
Most not only feel honoured in being asked, but also feel it is their duty to carry out the deceased wishes as they would of wanted, for free
I say most, as solicitors are very good at stringing it out, charge for everything, nothing is missed off the bill, yet totally legal to charge
