Our 6900 did same thing few year ago, PTO would engage then stop after afew a second or two. Was the micro switch, if I recall was about £70 for new one.

I had this problem, the box switching the actual pto has some small component broken. I say had, I now have no pto at all anymore via the normal switch. I resolved it by taking power from the 3 pin plug directly to the coil, located above the shaft, 2 wires coming from inside. I did place a fuse on it. Now 2 years later I reckon it's time to fix it... this winter... sure thing.

An easy fix for a faulty solenoid is a strong magnet instead of the coil.?

Pto stopped last night when baling
Tried this morning, goes for 5 secs then stops
Any ideas guys, thanks in advance
Now Then..
As I recall, if you look in the operators manual it describes how to read the diagnostic codes from the tractor.
The solenoid on the PTO will probably be the old type with the square coil on it which is available separately. The newer round one is a complete assembly is more expensive than the coil alone.
As a test you can swap the coil from the Diff lock but it's located under the rockshaft and difficult to get.. The MFWD solenoid is a different part number..
