Should my contractor be able to tell me the tonnes of maize harvested, the second he stops the machine? And is there any calibration required to take the dry matter of the crop into account?

Thought they could do it when they were going up the row nevermind when they’d finished

Yes it tells u everything as u are chopping and once the field is finished it will tell u the totals of said field,there’s no way of calibrating for the dm but u should be calibrating for the tonnages as often as is practical

Local AD gang use a JD forager with a Harvest Lab weigh cell for paying out on fresh weight basis. They have a silage trailer with weigh cells as well for calibrating it. Growers with weighbridges calibrated that trailer and you can guess whose favour the error was in!
