Ours all have deutz engines, good to see the new 900’s have reverted back to MAN as they were excellent and fairly bullet proof in my experience. Our crawler has a sisu engine, third one in 3500 hrs actually ?

Our yellow one was on its second engine when it went. We didn’t actually have any trouble it was just replaced because of the issues you are probably well aware of

See I guess the 6130r is certainly a pocket rocket but we may want to go 5 furrow in coming years and it would be too much for that tractor.

I don’t like the weight of the 6145/6155 for rolling and the likes.

If Deere had a 4cyl tractor with 150-160hp (rated not boosted) then it would be a fairer comparison with the 514/516 Fendt.
Several round here use 130r with 5 furrow! Probably chipped.

@Alwaysworking I purchased a 516 3 years ago and never regretted it, expensive yes but when compared to other brands there is not much in it if specked the same. For loader work the 516 is a foot or so shorter than the 716 and probably 10k cheaper as well. I would like to try the new 716 myself to see if there are any advantages over the 516 ie. Is it worth paying that bit extra or do you go for the 720 or 724.
As Clive pointed out cost of ownership is very good. Mine is worth nearly what i paid for it after 3 years, a good 2nd fendt is not for sale for long.

Proportionally there is more 2nd hand fendts for sale than any other brand, certainly 700s.

Clive’s cost per hour to swap comes in at £14/hr,when I priced to swap my 720 it was going to be nearer £24/hr,hence the reason I extended the warranty and kept it.

Interesting that fuel economy hasn’t been mentioned, reality is the fendt lost its fuel economy once they started with emission control, mine doesn’t break any records, well it does if you believe the screen.

For a owner-operator and given the list of jobs mentioned, a Fendt has to be a no-brainer.

CVT is a must these days in my view, dunno why you would want to be stuck with anything else, makes power command look bloody daft and anything else look clumsy.

CVT is nice no doubt but it comes at a cost so I can see why plenty wouldn’t go for it. There’s no guarantee that I’ll go for one either £££££

In reference to your final paragraph , you are dead right
My 1989 311(that l still have) uses less fuel than any of my tractors since ( on the same job). Those screens tell lies every day . I always measure fuel in so l know what they consume.
Also lets not forget VW.

And also ( if l may OP ) , to all those who ask do you really need a cvt l will just say, when l am driving my old 311 on any job l very regularly say to myself "be nice to be half a km/hour faster or slower " but when l am in the vario tractor l have not ever once said " Be nice to be in a fixed gear ".

We have had both, currently a 6130 which is a good tractor but the fendt is better with a loader. The bloody bonnet on the deere makes it very numb for visibility and a deere loader can be a bitch to take off and on

You might be right about the 700s being plentiful, but RFM don,t have hardly any, could be different in other parts of the UK. I know of several dealers who had some early 716,s for sale with high hours and were soon sold. One of the dealers RJ Mcclean was in Shaftesbury.

Would you mind saying the model of tractor and loader?

I saw a new 300 series and Fendt loader in a dealership yesterday, they looked well fitted together and the loader looked really strong. Even the pivoting link arms that run back from the top of the attachment carriage were forged steel as opposed to welded plate.
716 Profi Plus with Cargo 4x. Factory fitted as previously mentioned and is very much part of the tractor, even little touches on screen show loader is on. Time will tell if it’s a good as the others but we’ve had about 20,000 hours on them now with no engine or Vario problems so overall quite happy with them.

Our 6155 on 650s pulls an 8 m heavy roll and hardly leaves a mark.
Turning circle could be better with a large loader so might not be
handy enough for your needs.

For what it's worth, the 718 is every bit as nimble as the 516 with regard to turning circle, absolutely no noticeable difference. A friend with a 6155R DD couldn't believe the steering lock and turning circle on the 718!
Should have said, 516 on 650/65/38 and 540/65/28 and 718 on 650/65/42 and 540/65/30

Weve had two previous deeres with loaders and found
them great loader tractors but I'd like to try the equivalent
Fendt as they sound more nimble than our 6155r.Nice tractor in most other respects though.
Hold their value just aswell as a Fendt aswell.
