Define warranty

17 months ago I purchased a new trailer, having suffered delays in delivery I lost the job it was ordered for. As a result it hasn’t done an a lot of work but is used just not as much as it should be. 2 weeks ago as it reached full stroke of the tip ram the final stage popped out resulting in the ram falling towards the cab of the tractor followed by the body of the trailer. Nearly 2 weeks down the line the ram manufacturer has visited (next working day) and been in full communication whilst the manufacturer took a week to make contact and to date not really offered a solution or offered any information or a solution. My question is the trailer is out of warranty by 5 months and only done 50 loads since new. My primary concern is understanding what has caused this eg incorrect operation or incorrect fitment for instance.
Am I wrong to expect the manufacturer to sort there product out after such a failure?

Was there any damage to the tractor? Also I can imagine a bit of a rive up if the body came crashing down?

Was it a single ram trailer?

In my opinion it will be the maker of the ram that should put it right. The trailer manufacturer did not make the ram. but saying that the trailer maker should chase that for you. There must be a health and safety issue there so you should have enough ammunition to get it fixed.
Trailer manufacturer didn’t make it but they fitted it, which then leads to questions such as does the ram have enough capacity, is the geometry correct and is the specification correct for the application. My primary concern is to understand why it happened so if the Ram is replaced with like for like what’s to say it won’t happen again.

What does the ram maker say? Was it installed correctly or the right spec ram for the job etc?
Ram maker is working on it but trailer maker isn’t co-operating, trailer maker says they are waiting on ram maker but given there attitude when it was purchased I’d put Gary glitter in charge of the local crèche before I would trust anything they said.

Care to elaborate on what breed it is?
