DEFRA inspires nobody with its SFI Pilot. What happened to ambition?

I am in the Sustainable Farming Incentive Pilot (SFI). Nearly 900 of us are signed up across England (devolved nations are not even on this path, please note) to help formulate a viable scheme to enable the green and carbon friendly transition (without detracting from food production). It is an enormous challenge for DEFRA but in this scheme DEFRA are stumbling, slowly towards certain failure unless they start to listen hard.
The real story behind this Guardian article is about DEFRA failing to put their best foot forward. It is NOT about farmers dragging their feet!

There is none.. Pension funds want to buy our farms to offset their carbon emissions

Green Alliance is just another group of ecotwats who think they can force their idiocy on people without having to bother with anything as troublesome as the ballot box. It's governance is the usual selection of ex public sector and NGO types and >80% of it's funding comes from the (surprise, suprise) big philanthropies & trusts, including the Esmee Fairburn Foundation, the European Climate Foundation, Quadrature Climate Foundation, and the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust. Those four alone account for over half their income. What particularly grips my sh*t is that they had more than £80,000 of taxpayer's money from DEFRA last year.

So what do they do with that cash? They buy influence. Their largest single cash donation last year was to the Conservative Environment Network...

And so Round and Round and Round it goes, that tight little clique and at the Head of the pile, Goldsmiths, Carry and friends.

Money moving around and sticking to grubby fingers...

The amount of money getting chucked around by the big philanthropies is staggering. What is not staggering is how much of it is going towards organisations that just happen to be pushing for things that would 1: benefit the investments that the philanthropies hold 2: benefit the other business interests of those behind the big philanthropies. A prime example of the latter would be the massively rich vegan lunatic Jeremy Coller. His organisation (The Jeremy Coller Foundation) chucks cash at anti livestock farming groups (heck he even founded one - FAIRR), whilst his other interest (Coller Capital) ploughs cash into fake meat firms.

Speaking of shadowy philanthropies, I wonder how many livestock farmers who are members of the Soil Association realise that it's nowt but the plaything of it's biggest single funder (The Esmee Fairburn Foundation), one that also happens to be funding organisations that are determined to screw livestock farmers over?

I’m afraid I had to stop reading the Gruniad article at halfway as I couldn’t cope with reading a complete non-story grasping at the straws of clueless people justifying their own fantasy misunderstandings around basic science. Start with a premise that’s wrong (and there are plenty in the article) and then pile each house of cards on other houses of cards. Just weird how some people think. Sad that they get to tell the public about their "thoughts" though.
