Have you tried paste ?Got the vet in to sedate the calves and dehorn them, a vet and her assistant dehorned 115 calves in 5 hours. Me and wife would have done about 50 in 5 hours and been absolutely knackered as lignocaine never seems to work on all of them.
Probably more expensive than doing it ourselves, but I don’t care, it was so easy on both us and the calves! After sedation (quick jab in neck), they walk off, lay down and sleep for an hour. Lovely

Do it within 3 days of birth. We stick a gauze pad to it so it can’t be rubbed on another calf. Plenty of brown cows here.They are jerseys, nothing is safe from licking
