Cost effective! Vet bill under £1000 for 300 head of stock, has its uses. But to be fair we hardly touch anything on our system, lepto vac only annual vaccine.

Got the vet in to sedate the calves and dehorn them, a vet and her assistant dehorned 115 calves in 5 hours. Me and wife would have done about 50 in 5 hours and been absolutely knackered as lignocaine never seems to work on all of them.
Probably more expensive than doing it ourselves, but I don’t care, it was so easy on both us and the calves! After sedation (quick jab in neck), they walk off, lay down and sleep for an hour. Lovely

Do it within 3 days of birth. We stick a gauze pad to it so it can’t be rubbed on another calf. Plenty of brown cows here.
