Democracy in Scotland

The Greens obtained about 3% of the constituency vote in Scotland, and didn't win a single constituency. But whether they form a formal alliance or not with the SNP, they will now be the most powerful group in Holyrood - more powerful even than the SNP.

The Lib/dems, Conservatives and Labour won about 40? constituency and list seats, but between them have little or no influence in the Scottish Parliament.

Is that Democracy or a complete and utter Ballsup?

Labour, LibDem and Tory's did not win 40 constituency seats. They won 11 - combined.

Their seats are from the back door list vote. The Tory leader didn't even win his constituency!

If you want to talk democracy SNP won 85% of the seats on the FPTP system used in Westminster and they have a higher share of the popular vote than the Tory's in Westminster at the last GE

but just you keep moaning it's not fair. No doubt you didn't complain when the Tory's and LibDems formed the Westminster coalition govt when Cameron got in...

However you look at it, the Greens had a very low percentage of the vote, yet they are the most powerful and influential party at Holyrood.

Percentage share of the Constituency vote:

SNP 47.7%
Conservative 21.7%
Labour 21.6%
Lib/Dem 6.9%
Greens 1.3%

Percentage share of the List vote:

SNP 40.3%
Conservative 23.5%
Labour 17.9%
Lib/Dem 5.1%
Greens 8.1%

And there is good evidence that the Greens' share of the List vote was enhanced significantly by the SNP members voting Green in the regions where the SNP were unlikely to win List seats - simply to gain a majority of pro-independence MSPs.

Donald Dewar has a lot to answer for.

This is utterly shocking

I hope no Labour/Tory/LibDem voters did similar and voted tactically "to stop the SNP"...

And its as nothing when compared to watching the whole Conservative government having to behave like performing monkeys, when a small NI party held the balance of power in Westminster.

''If only less people would vote for the SNP''!!!!!!!!

I think that should have been ''If only fewer people would vote for the SNP''

In fact, I wouldn't allow anyone to vote if he or she can't pass an elementary english-grammar test. And that would eliminate most of the SNP supporters.

And why is it that all the SNP members in Holyrood are not allowed to dissent, in even a minor way, from Nicola's views? She even has Police Scotland under her direct control.

Woooooossssshhhhh
Well that one was lost on you and you just blew your own vote in the process. :ROFLMAO:

Personally I wouldn't know what a typical SNP voter is like when it comes to SPG, I am however, content to live with democracy even if a majority isn't in favour of how I voted.

You seem to be quite content that the unelected Greens are now in control at Holyrood.

But if you can't make an intelligent comment in that regard, tell us your favourite joke instead.
