Derv problem

Proper testing is not cheap and takes a week or so to get the results back. I used Adler and Allen for fuel testing a few years ago. They were good and are well recognised.

The issue is deniability. The supplier will likely point the finger at your tank, unless you can show that other customers were similarly affected, at the same time and can prove it. Then even if you have proof there is a question of “damages”. If you didn’t suffer any real significant loss there’s little point pursuing it. The most you could hope to get would be a fresh load of fuel.

I pump all my diesel through Cim-Tek 260BHG-02 spin on 2 micron hydroglass water captor filter. They stop all flow from the pump when they detect/pickup the water.

Bought a job lot of them from the states a few years ago. A third of the price from resellers here. 1”-12 UNF threaded. If anyone want some give me a shout.

Plastic tank land rover dealer going to test diesel when I take both freelanders down

Personally I wouldn't believe them either. They will blame the diesel even if it's the vehicles fault (which I doubt). Get them to take two samples in front of you so you can send one off yourself to an independent lab.

Said we would fill reps car up as he said there was nothing wrong with but he would not

That kind of shows you the diesel is shite, don't let them get away with it.

These should be standard on all tanks.
We also put a similar filter on a harvester which suffered repeated non stop fuel issues for several years. This one however had a seperate water trap but after fitting we had absolutely no more problems

I had this exact same argument with a fiat dealer. I’d like to think as someone who delivers the stuff, I know which garages I could trust and which ones I wouldn’t even fill a petrol lawnmower up at!!.........Turns out it was an EGR valve..arseholes:)

very interested in this as a pal has the same problem , he was on his way back to north yorks from down south and needed to fill at a motorway station on north/south yorks border vehicle had same symtems as yours ,he says that he,s 99% sure it was the black nozzle he used but only got a card receipt as they didn't give full ticket he now thinks that the fuel may be contaminated so hes going to have it sampled after much leg pulling / he says it dosent smell right and remembers several vehicles stoped on hard shoulder . he is trying to find if garage gets its supplies from hull/Immingham or Teesside .his mechanic has had a quick look and says engine fuel pump and injectors are gone due to non lubrication of pump and without a total strip down suspects head ect, shot, were intrested were your supplies came from

Well that was just contaminated with fine dirt (which just didn't settle, even after a few days)
That supplier not at all interested, up,till then we had bought all our fuel from him, plus he has a couple of other enterprises that we had used, I obviously won't deal, with him at all now and will tell anyone around about the experienc. Annoyingly I always get a knowing smile and "bloody hell, don't buy fuel off him, everyone knows his fuel is filthy" :banghead:. Thanks for the recommendation Mr Cooper:mad:.
Tractor fuel this was and cost me some thousands with common rails:rolleyes:
