he is trying to find if garage gets its supplies from hull/Immingham or Teesside

Which services was it at? Often the fuel can come from several different sources. Depends on price and operational resources as to where it comes from.

ours was out of Teesside we think

I would be surprised if it was the problem of fuel quality at Teeside as there are hundreds of lorry movements a day from there and I haven’t heard any issues recently. It’s more likely to be the suppliers issue if the fuel is found to be suspect.

Independantly test it - but it will cost you - as I said in my post above, not cheap. You need to have proof it’s not up to spec or has something like kero mixed in.

Even then, if it’s “defective”, seeing as your storing it - they’ll just point the finger at you. You need to be able to prove they delivered it like that to you. You have to have evidence other folks from the same supplier, same delivery time as you were similarly affected.

Without the above and unless you’ve suffered / are out of pocket with mechanical damages I’d say your on a bit of a hiding to no where. Sorry.

I and many others had a problem with red diesel from the Lindsay refinery on Humberside about 3 years ago. Mine was delivered by Watson's and when I rang to tell them that it had turned to slush at freezing point they didn't want to know, in fact it seemed as if it was my fault. I haven't traded with Watson's since, although it was not their fault but they could have helped me if they had wanted.

I tried to get the NFU involved but they lived up to their acronym!

There isn't much you can do 500TY, as has already been said they will say it isn't their fault. The only thing you can do is never to use that service station again and tell your pals to avoid it. What was the brand of fuel?

I see from Mr Google that it is Esso. That's interesting because a friend of mine has had trouble with Esso fuel recently, there must have been a bad batch and they will know about this, but if they keep quiet it will go away.

I've a pal who works on the rigs, they buy cheap diesel, i think he said in 5000 ton loads, anyway, they need to change filters on the gennie that it's been used on every 5 hours.
Maybe this is similar quality
