Regular showers all summer up here in Easter Ross. I am feeding ponies behind an electric fence in case the they get too fat. Wish I had a bare field to put a fatty in but there is grass everywhere.

Had a 7 week drought this year to which finally started raining a week before combining, fed 750 ewes haylage for 28 days, 300 lambs were beating 250acre at one block.

More serious than last year in terms of drought as the winter and spring we had less than half of what we usually get for every month so the water table is much lower, rivers dried up within a week or 2 instead of 5-6 weeks last year, thankfully a splash of rain in the first week of June gave us plenty of fat lambs so didn’t have the numbers post weaning like last year.

Another 2-3 days and I could do with rain again!

......mind you, this sand dune is always there come rain or shine - apparently it blew here from Derbyshire in the last ice age.
We had 1/4" of rain here on Sunday night, but you can't see where it's been. The grass on the sand land is crispy to walk on and is at a standstill. There's plenty of moisture and grass on the wetland nature reserve grazing (this was topped last week)......

I guess we're lucky to have plenty to choose from.

Wish our land would grow stubble turnips what with drought and flea beetle there is not much left.

Very wet ground conditions here in cumbria. Cattle have made quite a mess. Lovely today and supposed to be nice all week but seriously thinking of housing cows at the weekend to save the fields for the sheep. Had intended to spread some more fert but needs to dry up a bit.

First dry spell here this week since early June - muddy and too late for hay :( We’re always under the blue bit on the map. We’ll be buying forage again - dreadful wet summer here. Weather news said was the wettest August in Scotland since 1985.

The photos of the Westmorland Show last Thursday were unbelievable.

I can assure you if you're a livestock farmer drought is just as scary as too much rain.

Three recent years we've had a 12-13 week completely dry late Spring

You never catch up for the year with that
Dont need to see photos as was there judging, will try to send you some down (y)as you can tell we all struggle with the weather wet or dry.

Not from the tsunami 8,500 years ago, then? We are on similar sand on the east coast here but we are told it got washed up when a chunk fell off Norway. Certainly a lot of shells come out when the ditches are cleaned. But it has rained all summer, mostly very fine rain showers. My neighbour started cutting oats yesterday. Now it is raining AGAIN! Your sheep look well on it though.
