It is a frequent phenomenon here, it's not a drought, it's a bit dry.
But I am glad that all the fert is on and hopefully washed in; it is getting that you need to be putting your granular fert on here in Feb, to ensure enough rain to wet it in more years than not:eek:.
Ponds have not filled all winter here and are now shrinking away, it is the lack of groundwater that is concerning. There was standing water into May last year on the wet meadows.

Pretty desparate here. Sugar beet worst hit. Some, where the seedbed was a bit knobbly, chitted due to a rain after drilling then dried out and died off. Not widespread, so no panic but it's annoying.

Going to put the final dose of N on now that it is at "100% emergence".

Not going to clear to my fodder or straw store this spring. Still feeding silage to the cattle in doors to save the paddocks.

Who knows though?

We have some of our 30 + Ha of miscanthus on rented re-claimed pit stacks, haven't even bothered to cut it this spring after last years lack of H2O but we will cut it next year and get both year's growth in one.
Regular heavy clay grew OK and we cut that but it won't like 2 DRY years in a row....
