We (The local archaeo soc.)were asked to do some geophysics work to find a vanished long barrow that was destroyed during WW2 airfield construction. One of our ladies started with the Victorian OS maps, then went to Kew and found the actual notebooks used by the 19th century surveyors. They were really interesting as they noted all sorts of useful features , including the missing barrow, that they saw when working in the 19th century countryside. I mean to have a look at our farm area when the lockdown ends.
