Always like looking at old maps and came across this one the other day, the detail is great and it shows the whole country you can also use the slider to superimpose todays map over the top, don’t know how to post the link but go to archiuk.com or google -
Detailed Old Victorian Ordnance Survey 6 inch to 1 mile Old Map (1888-1913) , make sure it is the 6in to 1 mile version like this

We (The local archaeo soc.)were asked to do some geophysics work to find a vanished long barrow that was destroyed during WW2 airfield construction. One of our ladies started with the Victorian OS maps, then went to Kew and found the actual notebooks used by the 19th century surveyors. They were really interesting as they noted all sorts of useful features , including the missing barrow, that they saw when working in the 19th century countryside. I mean to have a look at our farm area when the lockdown ends.

But it doesn't show the Morrisons, Aldi, Tesco, McDonalds, Costa, M&S simply food or chain pub :oops:
