Deutz 6180 ttv gearbox overheating

Oil level correct

Cooler rad fins clean

Filter not blocked

After four hours ploughing the gearbox oil reached 100°, and the oil over temperature warning code popped up. Couldn't say it's definitely not the sensor, but casing was bloody hot to the touch and I'd watched the temp steadily climb on the dash screen

Anyone any ideas what the problem could be?

Are there ranges you can select?
Is it in too high a range?
No, there aren't user selectable ranges. It's the same gearbox Deere use in their 6 series autopower (ZF eccom). Four speed powershift and hydrostat, all controlled by the ECU

Long uphills on road haulage will put the oil temperature into the early 90's, but it soon cools again on a bit of level or downhill section. I've a valtra with hydrostat gearbox, and this behaves similarly..... So wasn't worried

Anxiety levels elevated after deutz overheat and not understanding the cause. Oil is darkened, but not filthy black like a clutch pack has gone, and there's no slip

Thermostat somewhere in the circuit

Have you a p&I'd drawing of overall layout
Gearbox is a ZF eccom 1.5

I've a workshop manual, but haven't studied it closely enough to discover if there's a thermostat in the cooling circuit. I'll make time now you've suggested thank you

(or someone says there's the problem, you fool)

There are the two ratios (trailer and plough on the dash), I have heated the oil using trailer for field work?

This description sounds nothing like my ttv 🤷‍♂️

Does it have a transmission coolant pump like JD used? Pump failure or low coolant levels would cause a deere to overheat
Don't think so, but the transmission gear pump pressure regulating valve spring has been shimmed. It very occasionally throws a low pressure error code going into stationary hold when idling. Blip the throttle and it clears, and only ever occurs when oil quite hot

Sure shes not blowing a bypass valve on hard pulls as thatd heat the oil
Could be the shimmed pressure relief valve? But I've been experimenting.....

Been out raking. Taped a bit of card over the radiator to block about quarter of the fins. Transmission oil gets into the high 80's. Removed card, and it drops down to 73° and remains there

I'm wondering if the cooler could be the issue?
