Deutz Fahr any good

i am looking at restocking the farm. A bit fed of fixing and thinking of a new 200hp heavy work tractor, 100hpish yard tractor, and treating myself to a telehandler. Getting fed up with jobs that need a Telehandler and not having one.
I was massively impressed with the Deutz Farr stand at LAMMA and the equipment on display and the layout of the cab and their overall capability on paper. I am also wondering if there is a good deal to be done with one manufacturer???
However Jupiter maybe ascending Uranus and I may well be thinking out of it.
Does anyone have real world experience in the cradle to grave operation of Deutz Farr.

Cheers

Looking to buy all three in one go? I'd hope they'd want to put together some kind of deal!

You won't go far wrong with DF in my experience. (y)

Deutz don't have much of a brand following in the UK, unlike most of the rest of Europe where they are the third or forth largest seller. Consequently dealer support can be a bit hit and miss dependent upon your area.

I've owned and operated the vast majority of brands over the years. The current Deutz line up has excellent engineering design, performance and longevity.

The purchase price is generally extremely competitive. The running costs are practically the lowest of any brand, helped in no small part due to the Deutz engine economy that sets the industry benchmark for frugality. The high demand for used machines on the continent means the second hand market tends to mainly be exported, but at a very good price.

If you analyse the cost of ownership per engine hour worked, for many years there hasn't been a brand that works out costing less to own.

Dealer support from UK head office has been criticised in the past. They seem to have recognised this failing, and improvements are part of their plan to near treble their UK market share over the next five years.

The tractors generally come standard with equipment that some others don't even list as an option.

You can't be sucked in by marketing hype on them though, they don't seem to have a marketing department!

First thing I'd do is look at your closest, or in your opinion the best three or four dealers in your area, tell them what you're looking for and ask them to price you a deal, make sure they know they're pricing against other makes. If they're going to fire out some demo's, all the better. Main thing has to be a good dealer customer relation/backup.

Things are about to change at Same Deutz Fahr with the opointment of top man Mr Mark Ormond. What a great job he did for his previous company Lemken in massively increased sales. Sadly S D F have gone recently Robless with the lost of both of Rob Howles, and now Rob Edwards who's future now seems to be Orange. Very Good luck and success for the future to both of them.
If Mark can make the the improvement hoped for Dr Dunc's rather cutting statement --you can't be sucked in by marketing hype on them though,
they don't seem to have a marketing department. Will be be long behind them very soon and long forgotten into history.

Very interesting fast response JIM. First of all I'm puzzled about news having to be kept under Wraps on a forum that is about machinery and tractors on a farm forum . I have known for 43years that SAME, then SAME LAMBORGHINI and then with the purchase of DEUTZ FAHR this Group -- Same Deutz Fahr-- have always strived to make a very high quality product. I know of many other people who have been involved in tractor manufacture or tractor sales for many years will tell you that S D F have not slipped off the fine line of producing a top Quality Product any more than other Tractor manufacturers , and in many cases less so.
So it Welcome and success to you Mark
