Interesting idea.. in Europe and the UK, most tractors only have one years warranty, but lots of users take out a mechanical breakdown insurance for up to seven years, but like any insurance claim, there will be an excess to be paid
So you are that they are green like the patches in the field !!!!

I want to make it clear I have nothing against the mechanic working on tractor at moment
I personally think he is good!!
It’s just the fact that Mr hintononroad seems to have a hate to every man in a van!
unless he driving around in a flash Toyota Land Cruiser with Power Farming plastered on it
And laptop inside so they can google where drain plug is.
The men in vans around here that I know of are very good!
One I get out to my dozers when I need him knows things that ain’t no google search going to tell you !

But what would I know
I only a no power toothless shack dwelling with long drop out the back banjo playing country heck
Who just needs to drop his pants and bent over and take it while squealing like a pig (deliverance movie flash back) and happy pay for the experience lol
Oh well you’ll having great day

Then why when I asked the owner manager for Power Farming for that number (which I did look up on website by the way!!!!)
He Said to me
I would be wasting my time speaking to head office as they would only give me “Lip Service “
His bloody words!!!
And only gave out after I persisted
So all this more than suggest you at Deutz have known of this issue and hiding!!!
So did you speak to anyone at Power Farming Wholesale?.....or did you just listen to the local agents service manager.. who you are clearly upset with?

so why are you having a go at the dealership and rubbishing them?
I don't hate every man in a van, but unfortunately with todays modern tractors and machinery there is a need for constant learning about looking after new products, largely driven by a sophisticated intranet system, that allows technicians to get to the problem area very quickly, sadly something a man in the van does not have access to....as an example the system that SDF uses has a cost of about $8,000 per unit and there are on going licensing fees.. something a man in a van wont want to commit to.
Just so you are clear... I think men in vans are a great source of service or repair for low tech products when they are out of warranty.. clear enough for you?
Sorry to hear about the shack and the long drop, but I do like a bit of banjo playing... sounds to me that you're not happy with agriculture.. perhaps you need to move into to tourism and give urban folk or overseas visitors the taste of Real NZ with your shack and long drop... good luck with that

Crikey, think there's more hours been spent ranting in this thread than been put on the tractor in question!

How do you put so few hours on a machine in ten years anyway?

Has there been times when the annual oil and filter changes have taken longer to do than the work it's done that year?

(It has been serviced every year, as per owners manual intervals?.....)

Great good on you
NZ great country to come too
I wouldn’t know what percentage of the market Claas has.
But to me appears to expanding
The balage contractor that comes to us usually all JD was running a couple of Claas tractors this time
Cousins running couple big Claas harvesters and farm/ station next door has a Claas along side a couple of JD
So think it gaining market share
Possibly more dominant in the harvesting side of things
I probably the wrong person to be answering your question I sure these other guys more better answer for you. Cheers good luck hope you make it out to NZ

Not many Claas tractors or balers around from what I've seen (well, not around here anyway),plenty of rakes/mowers/choppers though. They keep saying that they're gaining market share with the tractors but I haven't noticed it. Typically large/flash workshops, showrooms etc.

There's not really much money in the trade down here atm though (despite the huge shortage of skilled staff) but living costs have skyrocketed. He's probably better off in Aus for now until things settle down a bit.

Claas is represented in NZ and Australia by a privately owned family company headed by Herby Whyte.. Originally called Landpower, they now trade as Claas Harvest Centres and are well spread around the country. Over the last five years they have spent a lot of money on investing in premises, people and technology to support the end users. While they may be regarded as a second division player in tractor sales, with around 5% market share, they are titans in the harvester market with combines and self propelled forage harvesters, outselling any other brand by around 3 to 1. These also sell the claas range of grass and baling equipment where they do well with contractors, alongside JCB agricultural Grimme and Amazone. I know that they have an exchange programme for technicians with the UK, sending staff overseas in the out of season period. They will be a great place for your lad to gain experience and to see a bit of the world. As to the previous poster saying there's not much money in the trade.. I don't know where he gets that idea?.. because the industry is booming and crying out for good staff. As to living costs rocketing.. he needs to get out more.. that's a global problem.. tell him to go for it !!!!!

 If you think NZ is a better option than Australia (short term) regarding wages and costs, you've got your head in the sand.

But he'll get more money in Australia and the rent on the scaffolding plank will be cheaper.

If I was a foreigner choosing between the two countries, I know which one I'd pick.
