Bit of an update on the deutz if anyone's interested. The tractor was bought with a few small problems mainly cosmetic. one of the problems was an oil leak on the side of the gearbox coming from the gasket between the valve block that controls the powershift gears and the gearbox. This seems to be a bit of a common problem our 6160.4 also did it and also know of a McCormick with the same transmission that has just done the same.

Back wheel off and had to remove the steering oil filter and a few other pipes and wires etc.

Not great photos but you can see the breaks in the bottom part of the gasket although some of them might have been torn when I took it out.

Was a bit fiddly getting it back in with the gasket on, not a lot if room to work in there. Took a couple attempts, ended up cutting some M8 threaded rod and screwing them into the gearbox to act as guides, then once I got the block held with the proper bolts unscrewed the threaded rods .

Also while the wheel was off took the airline and blew the top of the gearbox clean, there was a lot of stuff came off it, tractor must have been working on heavy clay ground because the earth that was coming off was like concrete and was baked on pretty well  also took off guards under the fuel tank and round the battery and gave everything a good blew out. Also had the wheel off the other side and had to weld up the bracket that holds one of the air tanks on.

Scrubbed down and painted both spacer rings while they were off too as they were orange with rust

One of the mirrors was broken and one had been replaced by one from a M series, so thought I'd try these duel view mirrors that had been spoken about on another thread , wasn't sure for a start but after a bit of use really like them ??

Not done a lot with the tractor really , bit of dump trailer work and a bit of ploughing mostly, but so far really liking it, C shift armrest is really nice to use although have to be careful not to press the wrong buttons :ROFLMAO:. There's a lot more power over the 620, always thought it was quite good but this is a much smoother power, and picks up better and quicker.

still a few other bits to tidy up and sort out but it's a working progress.

Anyone had this problem before
16182997839833526535821656241441.jpg

Dealers laptop has been on it and says there's a shortage of fuel, checked over fuel lines and found a bad end on the main feed from the tank, sorted that and the alarm stayed off for months, but has come back, thought maybe it's filters, new filters on and it's worse!.. It used to come on after a few hours working, now it comes on as soon as there's load on the engine, pulling up hill, accelerating etc, then goes off after the loads gone.

Our old 620 did the same thing, changed the relief valve on the end of the injector rail, and no difference.

Anyone had this before and found a cure?

Also brakes on both the 6160 and 6180 are needing bled regularly, is there a prosedure for doing?

Thanks in advance.

Can't help with the fuel issue, but did have problem with brakes myself on a 6150.4

To bleed correctly, both sides and the trailer valve needs someone locking and releasing the nipples while the pedal is pressed. I was trying to bleed them myself with tubes over the nipples into a jar of oil, but tits would only keep they pedal solid for a short while.

The mechanic who sorted mine also connect a trailer to the brakes. I don't know if that is also necessary, but the brakes never needed touching again after he'd bled them this way

Is there a strainer in bottom of tank, or have u porous lines, sucking air somewhere, weak lift pump?? Worst case you've got a dying injector.
