just back from my final check and a mystery solved(y).....earlier one of the 'my little pony' lambs was awol...being now about the size of a rabbit i feared the worst...although small they are particularly 'game' and always run up to you....they have a little bottle milk but it's a treat more than necessity:rolleyes:.....anyhow i find her about 100 yards away in a lambing pen across the yard pestering a ewe .....she nibbles my sleeve as i return to mum and she wastes no time getting stuck in for a feed:D:D

first thing we move some ewes/lambs to fresh grass which goes smoothly(y)....then turn some ewes+lambs outta the barn onto a paddock close by.....which does not:banghead::banghead:....y'know the kinda thing...all the ewes rush off leaving the lambs behind....then run back again ect:rolleyes:......the lambs will not follow + a couple of stubborn...or stupid:scratchhead: shedders:rolleyes:.....eventually 'K'..'boy'...and myself are strung out across the yard dragging 4 hurdles in line...occasionally me doing a 'hakka' impression:eek::D and we prevail:)....ewe 445 did turn up a couple of hours later (she'd just taken her lambs off and done her own thing during the commotion:D)...ewe 837 considers joining us but then wanders off again:D....she prefers the grass around the horse paddocks:rolleyes:

order restored i finish the chores but i feel rough and can't face ploughing the 'desert' field.....i feel giddy/sick...i go home and flake out... until 3pm:eek:....get up ...look round...few chores....home + shower:)........we all get pizza from fakenham...myself...mrs spin....boy.....cinders...her highness + cuddles (her boyfriend)....that lad is wearing shorts and has no hair on his legs:scratchhead:....i ask him if he shaves them....which ...apparently:scratchhead:...is 'inappropriate':D:D

OK....lets clear this up....upon further investigation 'cuddles' does have hair on his legs and any spurious allegation that he shaves them is not true:whistle:....will that do?...mrs spin is sitting 6ft away:whistle:

back to today....ewe lam with strong single first thing....feed ...then examine plough....the mechanism that trips the hydraulics for turnover is broken so no ploughing:rolleyes:....complete change of plan for tommoz....might not be a bad thing actually:)

church next...tell 'gerry' not to overdue sermon as city on tv at noon:whistle:.......onto fil's to watch canaries stumble to a draw....feck sake farke get vrantic on:banghead::banghead::banghead:

back home sit down ....up the farm...orf in orphanage is clearing(y)...ewe lamb with mastitis:(

home again....brood of banty chicks....anyone want them?

hectic start....mondays always seem to start like this.....questions from all angles:rolleyes:...like i have all the answers:rolleyes:....or any answers:cry:

phone the vet...get the lincs office:banghead:.....'sorrieee can't scan your ewe lambs this week...only a four day week'...FOR YOU MAYBE:banghead::banghead:.....feck sake the receptionist sounds like she's come from a small animal practice:rolleyes:.....later grimston call but the news is no better ..they can do it first thing after the bank holiday:rolleyes:....i rather grumpily tell them i'll try somewhere else....but i won't....in fact i think i'll not bother....even if there are some not in lamb they could be splitters by now....i reckon at least 40 are inlamb anyway....ah well 'mr cashflow' you've got to speculate to accumulate....least thats the theory:rolleyes:....i'm certainly 'accumulating' sheep:banghead::banghead:
wonder what it's like to have days off...y'know no work or thinking about work.....fancy having nothing to do for 4 days over easter....in fact i sometimes wonder how ppl can be productive enough just working what in effect to the rest of us is 'part time':scratchhead:

eventually some fert is put on ....some ewes moved to fresh grass:)....lunch:)

more fert on after lunch the off to the 'yard of many bargains' in the hope of that plough part:rolleyes:....now those of us who operate older kit will recognise the following phrases ' have you got the serial number?( it's long since rusted off)...'don't see many of those anymore'.....'never known one of those to go'....and the dreaded...' oh that was a modification on that model'.....anyhow i approached storeman 'M'.....'afternoon james ' he smiles....'are you ready for scrapheap challenge' says i....'well i've been in sh!t since 5 to 7 this morning so not a lot more can go wrong' is replied....i show him the part....wait for this....he recites the part number trots off and gets one:eek:....i'm gobsmacked....'not bad for £100' he quips....then sells it to me for a tenner:)

back home 'K' reports a ewe mastitis suspicions...she's right:banghead:

right easter week means short church service each night at 6:30....bell is tolling...quick rollie and off i go:)
