SNOT - 60 today.

episode 1...driving down to our low meadows i was doing my daily..'can i see the beet up the rows yet?' (just)....when we met the sheep we were supposedly off to see taking their ease on some grass and nectar mix.....reluctantly they followed us back....they'd pushed the hurdles open.....they wern't the best so later 'K' and mum took better ones down
episode 2...while 'K' and mum were doing that i got the ifor in place...hurdled up... to take a few more ewes/lambs to next village...i leave side door open to put straw in but i need to go get some....returning with said straw the sheep have pushed the hurdle open in the barn...all traipsed onto the ifor....then out the side door

it reminds of last august...my combining day...that morning i'd gathered up some strays and shut them in our old ww2..'big hut'...anyhow i'd just got the combine started...backing out of the building that is opposite 'big hut' when in the mirror i see the supposedly captured sheep filing out one by one via the service door .....it was to comical to be cross...i just left them to it and went combining ....not that it was worth doing

rest of the morning was eclectic but productive....life is returning to 'normal' a bit...even managed a lidl shop for mum later

you learn something new everyday....i'm fresh outta the shower....now... living in a female dominated household i was amazed to find only 3 bottles in the shower...ho hum i continue......bodywash check....shampoo check..third bottle..OK.. let me tell you now 'femfresh' is a rubbish hair conditioner

gentle on/off rain today....it was still more productive than anything i could do....still went round some electric fence....found some down....cheered the voss up
put sprayer on....pressure washed the barn patio + bins...needed doing and still had time to fill in my stewardship renewal....how can something that takes me less than 10 mins to fill out (even treble checking) take 14 months to process.....anyhoo off to the garage to post + check bale village sheep

post form recorded delivery...it's to a postbox....apparently every post box is attended...never new that...on the way out the husband of one of the directors (owners daughters) who also was in my year at school catches me...turns out they didn't book the last bit of atv petrol i got...till girl got confused and just booked the edp i bought.....he then regails me with several of our old alumni who are/had heart attacks...bowel operations ect....nearly put me off my rollie.....back to the edp ...our local newspaper...56 page canary promotion special...i'm a norfolk boy thru and thru...but 56 pages....must be really slow news day

afternoon...well just dossed about a bit....slowing down is knackering.....when you're doing silly hours/weekends i sometimes tell myself i'll reward myself later...but i still feel guilty when i do

Had a bathroom disaster here this morning .

For the first time ever in my life I got toothpaste in my eye.

I really would not recommend anybody do that. Taught the kids some new words.

You guys are wimps, try spraying hairspray ( accidentally instead of deodorant ) on your under arms straight after waxing!

There's no earthly need to use a product like that - upsets the natural flora - so you are fortunate in having no earthly need to know what it is

'STRAWBERRY FARM?...strawberry farm?'...grey hoodie,glasses..standing on our doorstep.....jabbing at a letter he holds....he wants directions...only problem is it's 3AM.....i direct him further on...he's a fruit picker for neighbour....he's lucky really cos ours is really the only house occupied where he wouldn't have been tasered or had dogs on him.....2hrs later he's fecking back..'i no find'...i put him in car and take him

8 am...lie in...after doing the 'rounds' i need to go to mole country stores for hep + fly treat....only trouble is i need to clean the van out.....NOW...if you're a 'star wars' fan....remember when our heros are stuck in the garbage hold of a star destroyer in 'empire strikes back'?....ok so the back of my van is like that....even the creature....on the plus side i do find 2 elastrators i bought to replace the ones i lost but later found

i always phone 'mole' before i go cos sometimes they've not got anyone qualified to dispense when you get there....anyhoo...newly qualified lass gets confused....despite my patient explanations she can't get the 2ml/sheep to bottle size of hep....she passes me over we get sorted.....off i go.....arriving i get my needs.....including 5l molecto...'how many sheep have you got?' i'm asked.... i don't fudging know....i make a number/wt up ...she checks the packet.....'what if i only had 3 sheep' i ask....'you'd still have to buy this one...it's the only size we do' is the reply .....now i'm a bit frazzed by the day so far and i have a rush of blood and buy a 4ft creep feeder....they didn't even know they had one in stock...buy i'd seen it outside....despite this...my chat/cheek/charm offensive yields no discount...but it goes in the van

home i try to have a sit down...but can't unwind....'kirk' rings up...he's back... wants to go for a drink...but it's pigeon club so it'll have to be tommoz

During last year’s lambing, very sleep deprived, I managed to spray blue sheep marker spray directly in my face from about two inches away. Had to finish my night shift looking like a smurf.

Always takes me a couple of weeks to get back to normal (???) after lambing. Think it's the change in routine/sleeping pattern. Have some 'wind down time' if possible.

so this afternoons spraying is now rainfast....TBH it became a bit of an effort to get it done

first thing i took a couple of culls into a local butcher....then while the trailer was on we retrieved the few ewes+lambs from the next village...i'm having a bit of change of grazing plan + while they're in i can treat any orf + worm.....having been orf free for a year we're having a terrible time with it really....spray.. jab...tubbys and just work thru it

the new bit of grass is to long really and shorting the fence...we've had a couple get out..then get back in again...anyhow i cut a bit of stock fence between it and our adjacent meadow to make access easier...unfortunately i didn't shut the meadows hurdle....the feckers poured thru the gap..across the meadow and back to the yard....i shut them up...gonna rain tommoz...plus i can check the over

bit frazzed i turn my thoughts to spraying....only a couple of ha but two different chemicals on two different plots so it's gonna be fiddly...sprayer is ready.....i use an ibc with a lockable tank as a bowser....forklift it to the field...do all filling there....go to get chemical....keys not in it's home...i had it sunday...i do have a spare but i don't know where it is....just then mum comes out...heating oil has run out and she's grumpy cos her shingles painfull.....THATS IT....give up...lunch...order oil

sit down have lunch..look at forecast...bit dodgy for afternoon perhaps i'll not spray...half hour later bag o feed turns up..thats the end of my lunch break...feck it i'll go spraying.....angle grinder opens the padlock on store...did i say the sprayer was ready....turns out i've not replaced the bungs on the booms that i took out t drain last winter..simply little things but feck they give me grief....then 'pigeon fancier j' (pfj) turns up ....quick rollie plus chat....then agronomist....feck sake i just wanna get on...finally get going...job goes ok.....black clouds in the distance....but it holds off and thats where we started
