Didn't realise Mrs Robbies diet was hurting you that hard!
It's not, I'm still living like a king!!!!! But you know what it's like when faced with the counter at Gregg's.

In the end it was a cheese and bacon puff pastry thingy, a festive slice and a chocolate eclair.........we've got roast pheasant for tea so I didn't want to spoil my appetite!!!!!!

anyhoo i was a bit dispirited today....i've been doing yr end and got it my head the sheep wern't making any money..... thinking 'what kinda ijit can't make at least a little money outta sheep just now'.....then 'beat myself up'......admiral admonished me 'i don't care what the books say...look at the bank account'.....back home later on i had a proper 'tot up' and they are doing ok....shoulda checked properly to start with :bag:

the morning was frenetic.....mrs peacock wanted to move horse paddocks but i'd parked machinery in the way.....horse food for strawbs and pigeon food for pigeon boss both arrived requiring forklift......caught ewes up and removed last few culls......made a section in barn for them whilst i decide what to do with them:scratchhead:...they are the 'dregs'

lunch

did bills๐Ÿ˜ญ.....due a cheque from abattoir that didn't arrive:(...........neither of which improved my mood:rolleyes:

cheered up a bit tonight though cos think i've sorted some fodder beet:)

A trip to fen edge beckons on Wed. Whether I see @Flat 10 I'm not sure ๐Ÿค”
Bloomin cheffins only allowing pickup on one day.

Those sheep are doing well because of that "cheap"rocket fuel your feeding them ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‚ spinny.

tuesday.....was always going to be a bit 'compressed'.....in the end we got done and a bit ahead but i was knacked at finish.....enjoyed it though:)

K doesn't come til 10pm so admiral and i did rounds......found the old wilt 'humpy' who wasn't at 'round up' the other day.....had to take her home to barn.....fekker fought all the way:banghead:

fodder beet delivery due today so had to clear space in the yard and put livestock trailer on tractor cos off laying fields now to wet for van.....K arrived and was detailed to feed ram lamb pens while i went to stalag for some hurdles then rendezvous at other field a store lambs.....by the time i got there she'd arrived and got them shut up(y)

i confess i do 'faff' selecting lambs....we needed 5 for freezer trade tommoz but i wanted to get a draw for mart on saturday as well.....3 ewes i'd put in with lambs while back cos they were thin were looking better so ,in all, it took two trips

meanwhile i'd sent mrs spin off to naam delivering bills and get cash for fodder beet

first sheepy load home we have a 'change of course'......wanted to turn puffa and mcnabs (betlex/texel rams) out for tupping......K questioned if they could be separated from puppydog and percy ( exlana x and teaser)....in the paddock i did it easily......walking down the yard K leading with bucket i quip...'i hope you watched that top quality shepherding'.....a 'crash of hurdles' as i finished and moments later puppydog and percy 'joined us' :bag:....bitta a muddle so we got them in barn.....penned up mcnabs/puffa and chucked puppy dog + percy in a ram lamb fat pen.....took us longer than it should to raddle up the former two but eventually we got them to yard gate to field .....i expected to 'be on the scent' and gone(y)

back in the barn....OMG:oops:....the ram pen was like a perverted roman orgy.....percy was panting being chased around and puppydog had his back to the wall butting amorous ram lambs away.....we had to get them out....percy ,being cleverer than PD, came out easily.....PD couldn't 'tumble' we were there to help and continued fighting for his 'dignity':banghead:....eventually out.....into another section next cull ewes.....nothing to worry about there then:rolleyes:...oh and puffa + mcnabs still by the gate ๐Ÿ˜ญ......K had to lead them with bucket to the ewes:rolleyes:

K departs and i trek back to field for second load destined for mart.....realised on way home that rather than turn them into hms spin cycle til sat i could ,instead, 'cobble' a pen together and it'd save a job thursday.....2pm by the time i finished.....just sat down for lunch when phone rang.....fodder beet delivery:rolleyes:

coax driver in to start with cos access doesn't look great but then he's fine.....quick 'mardle':)....he's off....but got to thinking...'another brecks farming lad who's follicly challenged':scratchhead:.....a pattern:scratchhead:......some allergic reaction to gorse perhaps๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜

after that it was get trailer cleaned up....give some beet to housed ewes before they broke out after them:rolleyes: ....chores....home...tired but happy:)

odd day....got to farm to find the lambs selected for mart had escaped their pen.....fortunately;)........security is tighter round the yard these days and the second line of defence held(y)

K not in so admiral and i on chores.....took first bucket load of fodder beet out to ewes.......they don't really need them yet but it ,hopefully, stretches grass/neeps out a bit longer keeping them 'amused' at same time๐Ÿคž

4:30 ...got to end of year reconcilliation wit booksยฃ120 out:banghead:....found an error now only 26p out:rolleyes:........phone goes...problem with mrs spin's holiday let heating....just been feckin serviced:banghead:.......mrs spin doing HH's pony so off i go....3 well to do couples....1 snooty woman....1 chap who knows as much as i do about heating/underfloor etc:rolleyes:......the latter negated my 'blagging skills' and if that not bad enough mrs snooty didn't fall for 'rural charm'......two of my best super powers useless i call 'pbp:)......who calls in/gets it going and corroborates my theory of pump to underfloor heating sticking

couldn't be arsed to look for the 26p....pondering taping coins inside the book with instruction to give it to tax man:scratchhead:

off to mart...journey straightforward but scene outside mart surreal......effectively plod lets a lone protester stop us for 30 seconds then tell them to move and we go on......it's all very politely done :scratchhead: .....i wind window down and complain to constable that they could be filming children in cabs....'it's perfectly legal' a demonstrator says calmly.....'we'll see about that' i reply menacingly;)

mart was quiet today despite seemingly decent numbers in :scratchhead:.....some really good fat lambs there...best show in weeks(y).......bitta shock though with coupla store lamb pens....bloody hell....if i'd had a barn free i'dve bought them just to rescue poor little feckers:(....nuff said:(...on the way out of mart a vegan waves me thru in a friendly fashion:scratchhead:

different way home today....to dereham and mole cs for sheep licks...one lamb gone:rolleyes:.......back at farm the straw trailer is where i want to park livestock trailer....i take former down the field....ewes see me and charge over en masse......doubtless expecting more beet they block the field exit:rolleyes:....after dropping trailer off i have to drive down to where i put beet...they follow......then i turn round and drive as fast as i can for home....having had a bitta gallop round they give up....for now ๐Ÿ˜ญ

late lunch....late evening last night a pigeon fancier rang me after some barley ...we got talking....some shock sad news:(....a pigeon m8...one i've not mentioned before.... lost his wife suddenly 3 weeks ago:(...this m8 actually got me in/going back in 2005 but we'd drifted outta touch.....anyway i put together a little 'care package'....30g baccy,4 lamb chops and small bottla whiskey i'd been given....went to see him.......found him in his stock loft and we retired to his 'bothy' and drank tea/smoked rollies and chatted like we'd seen each other every week:)..i always reckon true friends can not see each other for long periods but when they finally meet they're able start from where they left off:love:

horsey news.....cinders been having a bitta rough time of late.... little setbacks.....poor HH lumbered as 'agony aunt'......you get that though in animals/life as we try to tell her:rolleyes:.....today ,though, she had a good day....went to local equestrian centre that happens to be the farm i buy my straw from and got two second prizes in jumping classes:love:

Good on her ๐Ÿ‘
If she's at all interested in racing, get her to watch today's racing on catch up (OK, I'll hold my hands up - I skived off for a couple of hours this afternoon) - there's a couple of young lasses who won good televised races - very inspirational for young 'uns ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ‡
