friday/saturday

trying to get straw carting whilst events seem to conspire to disrupt my mornings .....fortunately able to catch up a little in afternoons:)

friday i noticed a little oil around the farmhouse kerosene tank....thankfully not very much at all but i diagnosed 'pin hole' leak from sediment bowl...i'd been nagging our old heating engineers to replace at last two services....each time....'i ain't got one wiv me':banghead:.....anyhoo i turned off the tap and our new 'pigeon boss' boy'..'pbb'...called in today with filter + seal but no bowl:rolleyes:...fair play he's coming back sun:)

got to straw field early this morning and just as i was loading a thick sea fret descended...real 'pea souper'......thought i'd better check lights on trailer and found wire frayed:oops:.....patched it up and by the time i'd finished the sun burnt the fret off as quickly as it had formed:oops:.....got back to yard....admiral had left door open and gone off with K checking sheep....i found snot in the cloakroom....kitchen and living room....a bag of garden bird food... scattered...was being consumed:banghead:

so al in all everythings pretty 'normal'😁
Try rubbing the leaking area with a bar of soap, should seal it for now.

finished carting 2 of 4 fields of straw....better still no more main roads  .....FYI a 'main road' in norfolk is one that is two cars wide ,white line and doesn't have grass growing up the middle😁😁......thought traffic would be easier over the weekend cos no lorries but it was nose to tail caravans so worse:oops:....the little barns on our grazing marsh are filled with straw/hay/oh deere and hay mower.....done just before the rain which is just as well as forklift doesn't like it down there....the plan is to haul straw/hay back with 4wd tractor and rear loader when wet;)

mcenroe is facing charges of 'dog worrying'....admiral took fd out....left door open....mcenroe was in cloakroom after bird food and went after fd when they returned😁.....i was in barn getting some fattening pens ready when admiral came down to complain:oops:

like to think i'm a nice person with empathy.....but now and again my perhaps darker side....i hate bullying to an almost psychotic level but also perhaps a 'small shoulder chip'.....when big farmers complain i have no sympathy i suppose i've been near the bottom all my life...largely by choice admittedly cos i never wanted to borrow money or employ anyone....happy to scrape by making do and mending.....but could i be forgiven for a little schadenfreude now and again:(

i got into a little 'ruck' on here with JP over pigs woes:bag:

had 12 snot on stubble first up....panic as to how they got out....i'd left a hurdle in yard literally 2 ft ajar......K reckoned they'd got between stock fence and barb wire:scratchhead:....fortunately K was wrong cos none out weds morn(y)...not impressed with mole country stores 8/80/30 'xht' though....shows signs of stretching in places.....the mcveigh parker xnot 8/80/15 i used elsewhere is 'tight as a drum'

hadn't really got on well enough with fattening pens on monday which made the day a little fraught as tried to catch up .......anyhoo got two going with 35 rams each but got more than i thought so need a third one

bloomin knacked but went to footie with m'uad dib....his treat in exchange for firewood:love:.....bunch of us.... good laugh....city were so dire it was funny.....they scored after 2 mins and liverpool fans went mad.....we were in the old mans stand.....our 'ultras' sit in the 'barclay end'....i turned to m'uad dib and said 'gonna be a tough night in our old haunt'.....but TBF liverpool fans sang their hearts out but refrained from taunting the 'barclay'....they were excellent i have to say:love:

Finished chopping maize over your way, you can straw cart without issues tomorrow. Future will start chopping at Hindringham Friday, not sure which route they will be using

friday night....got two more loadsa straw to get off last field.....i've over bought and underestimated my storage but ,,,well,,,meh 😁 .....i've put a lot in our 'polytunel'....it was a hasty buy back in 2016 when i thought every 'proper' :scratchhead: sheep farmer had one......but it's not really been a success.....not all it's fault...being as a 'bodger' put it up 😗....well...i'll leave it to your imagination😁.....anyhoo it has a hardcore floor but the plastic doesn't last two seconds....SO ...i've been using tarps.....the first lasted quite well but they sag/split so it was replaced...not wasted though cos i cut it up and used it for temp cover whilst re roofing farmhouse....anyhoo at mo polytunnel is full o straw but 'naked' awaiting new tarp:rolleyes:

in other news the admiral is getting suspicious about the sleeping pills....i'm clinging to the subterfuge for now.....the latest incident was when the pharmacy delivered an order with no sleeping pills and she got to the bag first.....took some quick thinking/blagging to explain that:oops:.....strawbs car park construction is finally getting towards the toppa list...i ordered some stone.....gone up £120 load:oops::banghead:........but 'opportunity knocked' in the shape of flanders;)

so let me run this plan past you.....flanders' builders have a lovely heap of rubble and i mentioned to him if it was 'up for grabs';)...he said i could have it(y)but i need to be quick or it'll be skips......only trouble is the trailer i want to use is fulla rubbish waiting for me to get a skip meself :banghead:

Soo😗...i thought ....why not take my trailer and tip it into one of his skips then load the rubble up😁......mrs spin thinks thats to 'cheeky':scratchhead:.......she might be right but i'm tempted just for the laugh😁......what do my 'learned' readers reckon ?:scratchhead:

Are you sure it's rubbish to be put in a skip?? Things have to be pretty far gone before it's skip material round here. I'm sure there's useful stuff in there that you shouldn't be chucking away!!
Won't it burn, any way, spin 🤐😗😈

@spin cycle your Polly tunnel sounds like the shed of a farmer dad used to combine for. He was so precise to get his corn cut and baled just right and then once on trailers his corn would be backed into a nissen hut which was just the hoop irons and there it would sit until the next year when he would tip the contents of the still loaded trailers into a pit and start again🤣🤣🤣🤣same chap had been known to plough around flat 8s!!!!!!!!😯

Just a side note about your trailer contents...... It's not long till November the 5th😉
