friday
phoned mart auctioneer first thing...he was 'positive without being enthusiastic' which i suppose is fair enough as he hadn't seen them......by the time the admiral and i had been round the ewes the abattoir had phoned back wanting the ram lambs so the lighter ones will go there on tuesday and the heavies to mart tommoz
main job of day was to go see @carbonfibre farmer and get some pea straw......the bales are so handy to have around.... but there were other jobs to do first and i didn't get away til noon
was a bit frazzed by the time i got there but i think charlie was relieved i was in 'traditional farming apparel'......i was totally useless loading/strapping....i did one section of bales then got in muddle with strap whilst charlie loaded rest....in the end i gave up and he strapped the whole load on whilst i retreated to van to write cheque and have a rollie....the straps were brand new 20m ratchets....to say the load was well fastened was an understatement ....charlie was 'amused' by my number plate for some reason
spotted a 3pt linkage set a pallet forks that looked under used......charlie reckons the top link wants re positioning but they will be for sale........his yard is becoming a 'breckland yomb' to me
got home just before 4pm for chores and to learn more kittens have been spotted.....mystery is that these are in a ditch bank near a horse paddock quite a long way from hms sheep cycle where 'roxy' was found .......who ,BTW, is settling in 'nicely'
