wednesday

good rain last night(y)...unfortunately the hay i bought last week was still outside😭...really was time to get it in.....i wanted to stack it in the cleaned out part of the lambing shed cept the end bay i wanted to use had ,in the past, stored the combine.....the floor was 6'' lower to accommodate our previous jd960 (the 'dommy' goes under 12ft eaves)......anyhoo after the rooks completely filled the engine compartment in 'nestings' in 2019 i opted to move her elsewhere.....the floor though was pita so i opted to put that right with some 'neddy rubble'......by the time i did that and put hay away it was 12:45.....admiral appears waving frantically:rolleyes:......community matron on her way..i need to secure fd:rolleyes:

matron arrives......conversation like this:rolleyes:

matron....'hello how are we today?'
admiral....'i'm anxious'
matron...'oh dear....how is your breathing? any difficulty?'
admiral..'only when i'm anxious'
matron...'i see.....any other health worries?'
admiral...'only my anxiety'

get the picture:rolleyes:.....anyhoo matron gives her i good 'mot'.....oxygen level 'good'....blood sugar 'good'.....blood pressure 'good'....i actually got her to do my blood pressure as well which ,given the moment, was surprisingly 'good' (i am on blood pressure pills).....we discussed mobility and stuff....some equipment is going and some new is arriving:rolleyes:......matron gives me 'pat on the back' for way i'm looking after her (which was nice TBH)....departs....late lunch

bitta curtailed afternoon but made start mucking out another barn to make space for shearing:rolleyes: .......quarter to four......decision should i 1/have a few minutes on tonka or 2/ skive a rollie:scratchhead:......plan was fettle admiral at 4pm then go to timber yard for some more floor beams i'd ordered.....being dutiful i opted for tonka.....drove over a raised bitta concrete that was an old grain pit......thought 'steady you'll have a track off.....nah i won't'.....off came track😭.......quick fiddle to see if i could run track back on (fail)......late doing chores.....ten to five before ready to go.....merchant shuts at five:banghead:

moral of story...'ALWAYS SKIVE FOR A ROLLIE'

thursday

mrs spin has an 'ice cream gig' on saturday 15 miles south of naam,,,,,i was detailed to go over to fil's at noon to take trailer to venue.....fil's is near timber yard.....SOoo....plan was ......do bills .....take van + ifor to fil's drop it off....take ice cream van to venue....pay naam bills and pick up heptavac i'd ordered on way back....drop mrs spin back at fil's by 2pm (latest) for school run (she take heptavac) and i go to timber yard (y)

did bills quite quickly but had some sheepy work i needed to do but needed K and she was late....so whilst waiting i had a little tinker with tonka....got track off but couldn't see if idler had a locking nut or whether the nut was simply welded on as part of structure.....consult manual which was no feckin use.....fulla stuff like.....'don't be unlucky fellow trapped by arm swingy bucket'......anyhoo K arrived and we did 'sheepy work' cept it got round to noon before i left:banghead:....then i was shorta fuel:banghead:......ended up 1/2 hour late to fil's and plans changed:rolleyes:

mrs spin needs to be on time pick up cinders at 2:30pm daily or 'sky falls in'.....so to be safe mrs spin drove to naam bypass and left car in layby travelling on with me....we get there...faffage/set up......back to mrs spin's car 2:15pm......not had time to deliver bills or pick up hep:rolleyes:....i carry on into naam to pay bills cept i was going to be a while after picking up hept' and needed to keep it cool:scratchhead:......answer was pop into lidl and buy frozen ready meal for admiral and use that to keep it ok;)....i may have bought some pastries😗

paid bills...last stop the vets.....not got heptavac.....covexin instead:scratchhead:......mumble/mumble/ponder:scratchhead:.....i 'run with it'.....time getting on.....admiral starts to panic if i'm not around at 4pm:rolleyes:......i get back to fil's...pick up ifor.....timber yard.....coming home get stuck behind two lorries carrying steam trains from north norfolk railway and then 'the panther pangs' start':bag:

thursday night K had reported an empty ewe down on coast with slight prolapse.....she'd put it back in...ewe had a wee (y) ....K doesn't come in on fridays so first thing i nabbed mrs spin before her barn changeover and we went down with meds + harness....it had popped out again so we jagged her and put harness on....cept i hadn't noticed the neck band was missing :bag:....so my new belt was pressed into service and i exited the field holding my trousers up :bag:

i'd switched back to trousers cos i'd gotten an awful ache in back of my lower legs....wondering ,as its been chilly, whether i was getting cramp....truth is i was even more knacked than usual so there wasn't a lot of motivation to do anything much after chores.....i looked around for something i fancied doing that wouldn't be a disaster if it went wrong.....my eyes alighted on my broken homemade swath wilter (magic box) :scratchhead:

so cinders had two chemistry exams today...thinking back i shall recount the 'tale' in form of chemistry assignment

AIM
to ascertain if spin cycles 'swath wilter' is repairable or whether it's back to the haybob

METHOD
we examined the machine and found two bearings broken. bearing 1 was at the end of a shaft and was removed quite easily. ...bearing 2 was behind a pulley that had no obvious way of removal

SUMMARY
it was 'decided' to remove the pully using the 'age old' method of strapping the machine to a building stanchion and strapping the pully to a hydraulic forklifty device😗

CONCLUSION
it's back to the haybob

i'm sorry but no way..ok the experiment wasn't a success but i showed all my 'workings out' and had 'results' :)
Listen 👂 spin, there was a distinct lack of falling in ectoplasm or trousers 👖 falling down or incredible bodgery and a complete wrecking of “the magic 🪄 box” a very long lasting character in your exposition, so in my mind that is a total failure. You can’t dress it up as something else this isn’t primary school or even a chemistry GCSE 🤣🤣🤣🤣

.let us say for example 'somebody' (purely hypothetical) forgot to put a belt on their shorts one morning and whilst en route to an orphan lamb pen.....bucket in each hand....aforementioned shorts start to succumb to gravity.....to lazy to stop/put bucket down the 'somebody' attempted to traverse the last 20 yards by firstly 'widening their gait' hoping a wider stance might help...

so my new belt was pressed into service and i exited the field holding my trousers up :bag:
Jeeez
This thread gets more and more like a Brian Rix farce every day 😖

... I guess I'm going to have to explain who Brian Rix was now as all you sweet young things are too young to have seen him 😱

I'm with flatty, that's a definite F!!!
But there's still scope for the "magic box" to live again!!! A set of drawers and some heat in the boss and then once it's off, I can't see any reason why that pulley wouldn't weld up and be plenty good enough for what you want to do with it!!!!💪😎

Ps who the fudge is Brian rix?????
And Yorkie pointy bazookas.....please tell more!!!!!!

The Farce on a funny old telly is part of my early childhood memories of family get togethers with the tribe at my younger set of grandparents' very old house. We'd flump to watch a few minutes of mayhem, and then rocket on to the next thing. Those "Things Go Wrong" shows that consume screen time these days are desperately dull and clunky in comparison.

Ah, the good old days 😍

When the telly was a massive, big brown thing in the corner that took 5 minutes to warm up before anything appeared on it's tiny screen ( and then the picture went constantly round and round, in an upwards direction 'cos the vertical hold was a bit dodgy).......

....and the nearest thing to a remote control was the likes of @primmiemoo and me being sent to turn the knob from 2 (BBC) to 10 (ITV) 📺
