Diesel Additives.

I have recently replaced old tanks with new larger (red and white) ones and am concerned about the 'diesel bug' causing it to degrade as the tanks will take about 6 months to empty. Any recommendations for an additive and where to purchase please.

Exocet near Shrewsbury sell via a dealer network. They were at the LAMMA show last time I went. Your fuel supplier may use them.
Could be wrong on this, but I thought Exocet was a performance/cleaning additive rather than anti bug?

For next winter fuel delivery in November I was going to order three additives; an anti wax, Exocet cleaner and an anti sludge/bug additive. Maybe over the top and too cautious but the cost of some £50 per 1000l could be money well spent compared to the potential problems of getting these bugs in tractor fuel systems, and/or freeze waxing if we get severe frosts.

Happy to listen to other ideas on this, especially on what Exocet actually does.

There's more than one exocet product. Gas oil conditioner is the one you want added when tank is filled.

i buy diesel with no additive And put my own in Exocet gas oil extra to increase the performance and Exocet anti bug(at preventative rate) never had a fuel problem. We have 10 micron filter on the tank which lasts years. only change tractor filters when light comes on. Last one we changed had done just over 1000hrs And still ok.

Might be cheaper to buy that Shell GTL by the time you`ve finished buying all these additives....
Point is, this Diesel should be fit for purpose when we buy it and it certainly isn`t:mad:!

Always sworn by the marine16 range of stuff myself but looks a bit pricey for a 'big' tank.
Marine16 here too

As used by the royal navy lifeboats (RNLI)

Ask yourself who would be the last people who'd want an infrequently used diesel engine to gum up while out at sea in a force ten gale.....

Marine16 additive really works for both preventing and treating diesel bug 👍

Exocet supplies anti bug through my diesel supplier in his own branded bottles. £25/litre which is for 4000litles. They also do anti wax and a diesel performance improver as far as I am aware

Far more of a concern is that you will be using summer diesel in the winter and this is the real issue. You will get waxing unless you put an additive in.
Make sure you have a good slope away from the outlet . Check regularly for water ingress from condensation. Place new tanks inside which helps massively. Good filter on outlet too.
I have never experienced diesel bug which is 99% minute particles of oxide from metal tanks.
