Diesel Storage

In the process of move 2 x 600 single skin 600 gallon diesel storage tanks to the new place, had originally thought shipping container for storage, but hadn't thought about bunding as they are ply floored.

So do I weld plate on the floor with a continuous seam to make a tank, or is there a better way. Its not really an option to stand them outside, prefer to keep what I pay for.

Buy someone elses 1000 gal tanks, cut the top off and then sit yours inside them. Instant bund.

You have to be pretty good to weld a floor in that won’t leak.
Second hand bundled tanks off eBay would be my choice

As it's a "significantly altered installation" it will have to be bunded, that bund must hold 110% of the largest tank, or 25% of total tank capacity within the bund - whichever is greater. The storage tanks must comply with ISO9000 too.

Have you priced new? You may well find you can get a new tank that meets all the requirements for less than you can buy a container for.

I agree, a new steel bunded tank will be cheaper in the long run, how old are your tanks?

It would be close and alot easier, but already have the container

Must be 30+ years old, I know what your saying is right, just don't like throwing something away that's still got life in it.

Sell the container and the tanks. How big is the container?

Put the old tanks outside and cut a hole in the top and use for scrap bins, keeps the yard tidy and when full cash in.

20 foot, but that has potential for a chem store, was originally planning diesel in one end and then put a steel wall in and chem the other, making a new doorway in the fuel end.

If it’s half decent you could sell it for more than a new fuel tank costs. But doesn’t help you with chem store.

We brought a 15000ltr fully bunded steel tank, lockable door, tank monitoring, high flow outlet pump, extra long recoil hose etc for about £5k 3 years ago. Would of thought a 5000ltr would be a lot less.

Could you not just put tanks inside container and put wall/step across to create bund within the container?
