Diesel washer fuel usage?

Currently using a pto driven washer to wash our hen houses plus other stuff round the farm but its quite a fuel hungry way of doin it. What would the fuel usage per hour with a diesel washer with standard washer size for a farm. Afaik ours is a hawk washer dont know what output exactly but its what id call a medium size if that makes sence

I use a pto power washer for chicken houses, about 2 litres per hour as 22 litres for a 11 hour day on a high output washer 35 litres per minute pumping 10 to 12,000 litres of water in a days washing. Its on a Same orchard tractor [80 hp] 750 pto shaft tractors doing about 1100 rpm engine revs with a gearbox on the pump. A Fendt orchard tractor was 5% easier on fuel.
Yes i could be direct without a gearbox on the 1000 speed shaft but used to have a smaller pump on a MF 135 and just stayed with gearboxes on the power washer.

An engine driven pump is probably easier on fuel but some of them can be very noisy as far higher revs because they are direct drive and run at higher revs.

Any idea of life span of these small diesel engines. Heard of them wee cubicle bedder machines givin trouble in the engines with not alot of hours on

We've got a diesel washer with a wee single cylinder Robin diesel engine on it's 22yrs old a gallon of diesel lasts a long time it's used for washing sheds etc .

It was got for washing sheds etc in 2001 for washing out after F+M and has seen a lot of action since

It came from @croppers I'm not sure if his company is still involved in cleaning equipment or not.

We're struggling to get parts for the engine now it desperately needs a starter motor and we can't get 1 and it's a fair pull on the rope to get her going !!

Chat to Cleanwell in ballymena, good service, tell him what you want and what you want to do with it and they will sell you the correct machine
goes under superclean now.
details on the website below

probably looking at £2000 which buys a lot of fuel, but if you sell, or reuse your existing pump, then maybe not too bad.

Well currently were burning around 100 gallon of fuel to wash the bird houses so was hopeing to half that possibly. Plus theres cattle sheds, machinery, milking parlour and yards to wash at times which all adds up. Plus the handyness of havin a washer that doesnt require gettin a tractor hooked up for small jobs

6 Gallons a minute, at a pressure of 1500 psi requires about 7 hp... So I would build something with a Yanmar LD100 engine rated at around 10 hp. Good reliable well proven engines. With plenty of spare parts available.
I have a yanmar probably about 6 years it is 10 hp (me thinks) but is running at 2500 -3000 psi at a lower volume have found it faultless.Bought it from Kew dealer in loughbrickland but is sold by several dealers in NI and is also assembled in NI by a main distributor so was matter off best deal and backup . It came with 150 meters off hose and 2 lances (one a turbo)all on a reel could not tell you exactly fuel usage but about 2 fills off a v small tank does a very long tiresome day find it v handy / maneouverable and certainly would not go back to a pto and tractor even on a 1000 rpm isn’t ideal on a ad blue engine ticking over .Yanmar is well enough powered (diesel) easy started on key and so far has been faultless petrol would be cheaper in short term but not as handy or economically viable long term
Any further help ask

Or build your own. You've got the hoses and Lance.. just a matter of buying a say Interpump pump of the correct size. And a suitable nozzle. But you'd need to decide whether to go for a high pressure say 3000psi with a lower flow or vice versa.
This is my washer.. Hatz lB20 engine out of the Ecorider bike, about 5 hp. And a direct driven Pump

What way did u link the pump to the engine

You must get an engine with a straight/ parallel keyway shaft. For a 10 hp engine it would most likely be a 1" or 25.4mm shaft. You buy the suitable pump, and it simply slides on to the shaft with flange bolts securing it..
An ex generator engine is usually no good..they have a taper shaft..and I've yet to find a pump to fit one.

Running a 4 cylinder Perkins linked to a Speck P45 pump here doing 60 litres at 250 bar (13gal at 3600psi). Takes 27 litres of Diesel everytime to wash each 260ft X 73ft steel chicken house. 100 gal of diesel would do some amount of washing. What ever you buy go bigger than you think you need you'll never regret it.

These are the types of thing I would be looking towards for serious washing. Decent sized engine, industrial pump, hydraulic reel at most you will need to add a bypass valve and a decent lance.

Hard to gauge the fuel use. Is that 100 gallon a year over several crops of birds?
Do you know how much fuel u are using an hour?
Does your pump have a gearbox, or is it a direct drive from the pto.
if direct drive, a gearbox would save a lot of fuel. Tractor only needs to be ticking over for your pump.
However, u can’t knock the handiness of a rig with its own engine. Either on wheels, or on a skid that can be moved with pallet toes.

if using a tractor, you Could also save fuel by going for a bigger pump with more flow. Do the job in less time.
