Digger hydraulic quick hitch

Right then.
I have a hydraulic quick hitch on my 3.5 ton Takeuchi, but for some reason it’s started blowing the ends off the hoses. It will all work ok ish for a couple of days but there’s so much pressure going to the hitch eventually the hoses just give up. It’s piped up for pressure to the hitch valve off one of the main pump test ports (as it should be) and then a return to the tank then just the 2 lines to the hitch, on the pressure pipe there’s no flow restrictors or non return valves like I’ve seen on other setups but mine never has had any.

It’s alway been a bit dodgy but I can’t stand putting new pipes on it every couple of days, I’ve rung a couple of places and they reckon that it’s working fine and it must be the pipes at fault but I don’t think it is !.

anyone any ideas ?.

The hoses ends are blow either because they are not crimped on correctly or the pressure is above what they are rated at. The quick hitch should only require pressure when you what to release the bucket and a spring will keep the hitch shut. Is it the pipes coming to and from the quick hitch valve that are failing or the pipes that go to the quick hitch cylinder. It would be a good idea to do some pressure test to identify what the current operating pressure is as you may need to add a pressure relief valve to the system if one is not there already.

It’s the pipes from the valve to the hitch that blow, there’s full system pressure to the hitch cylinder all the time not just when changing buckets !.
There aren’t any flow restrictors or pressure relief valve in the hitch system at all.

The lack of a pressure relief valve will be the cause of your hoses blowing there ends off. Surely there shouldn't be constant pressure to the hitch ram. Post some pictures of the hitch valve so we can advise on a suitable relief valve.

I am not familiar with hydraulic hitches but I thought they unlatched by by hydraulic power and locked by a sprung loaded action?

With a dromone hitch you had to flick a switch ,then crowd the bucket to release the clamp ,and crowd it again to engage the clamp but once you flicked the switch off ,it cut the oil going to the hitch ,the ram stayed pressurised ,think volvo was the same
