Digital Tax VAT

Anyone else having problems using new software that won"t upload to H.M.R.C.both my accountant and I are and he is using different software to me. Wonder if we are going to see a repeat of the Scottish Governments computer problems with sub payments?
Being a grumpy old sod I often think these computer programmers try to run before they can walk and become too ambitious by making things far too complicated just because they can.
Have always been an advocate of K.I.S.S. This in spite of my daughter and her partner both having phd"s in heavily related computer subjects. Her thoughts have always been that an old system should remain in place untill the new one has had a trial period.

HMRC have admitted to me there are certain gremlins in the system that won't be solved in a hurry. My trading name is incorrect and they are working on a fix which "will not be in place until later this year".

The system also won't cope with some other changes too. I can't swap from quarterly to monthly VAT currently - every time I do within 24 hours it fails.

Have submitted a complaint......and a month later I've had a reassurance letter, which just seemed rather copy/paste standard issue.

Fingers crossed...!

Had this problem yesterday with Quickbooks online. Took the VAT statement but tried to upload a correction to Hmrc after we reran the wages as it had incorrectly calculated pension deductions first time and it wouldn't accept it.

Have had mutiple attempts to submit using Quickbooks - many phone calls to accountants and QB helpline, think the problem is with HMRC

HMRC Demand you got to use MTD They SHOULD SUPPLY the relevant Compatable software????:banghead::banghead::banghead:
Funny no one has challenged this in The Courts???
Perhaps you could be the man to do it... £100K in court expenses might get you to the point of a judge decision and could save you a few pounds a year if you win.. mind you the cloud software I have been using seems to do the job well, is currently free and has reduced my accountants end of year work... (y) downside is I have to find time to do the accounts now rather than leave it to the seniors with their paper book keeping

HMRC also demand I pay my taxes but for some reason they don't supply me with the money to do so. :scratchhead:

Well a collective petition may???
Thing's are Always stacked against the small person .:(

I tried to submit a return on the old system and it wouldn’t text me the access code. Anyone else had that problem?

Have you registered with HMRC for MTD? Because if you have the old route is blocked and you can no longer use it.

I did it on the new system in April for March and all OK.
Did in May for April and all OK, but this time didn’t have to log in and no access code needed.

As above. Have a recipt dated 13/05 @ 11.30 am

Worked today. I guess we will nae find out until the money hits the account.
Doubt they must of had a gremlin yesterday.

No money in the bank yet. It'll be 10 days tomorrow.
Anyone else waiting longer than usual for VAT repayments?

I'm going to BUMP this one:

Now 10 days and I've phoned HMRC to ask where my money is. After 20 minutes, I was quoted regulation blah blah blah - and as the chap reeled it off, obviously I wasn't the first to ask. The answer is that HMRC have 30 days from your submission to repay VAT and as that is written in their rule book, I can't kick ass until that time is up.
Marvellous isn't it? Unpaid tax collector and they can then sit on the cash they owe me for another month should they choose.
