We dd some fodder beet, this field was swedes last year.
I'm pretty pleased so far, yes some spacings aren't 100% right but i hope ok. First time growing beet so steep learning curve! View attachment 679276View attachment 679278
Hi @David_A crop did well, measuring at 18 ton of roots dm/ha. Hope to start eating it in the new year. Spacing only critical to leave the plants space to grow decent bulbs, get your seed rate right and it should be ok. I think I may try dd into grass this year too but unsure at the moment. Let us know how you get on.How did this crop perform?
Thinking of using 750a to sow fodder beet into grass next year. Is the spacing that crucial for a crop that will be grazed?

Then the standard Matco units. Working here on medium/ heavy loam that was cover cropped with oat and bean mix overwinter. It has been lightly Triple Pressed once and rolled to incorporate a light application of poultry manure. The next field will be straight into terminated cover, lighter sandy loam and no poultry manure. To answer an earlier question, it came from a farm on the Carr land near Doncaster
