Direct Driller magazine

Thank you once again to the people who put this together.

May I ask a couple of questions?

In Issue 10, why does it say "Anger & Frustration" on the cover?

And in issue 11, I'd love to have some more detail on Tim Parton's Johnson-Su Bioreactor. What's the "tea bag" made out of, and how does he apply the liquid?

Many thanks,
NP.

In issue 10, the strap line referring to flea beetle on the cover and the article from Richard Harding if I recall correctly. However the article suggests farmers have as much to be angry at themselves in they way they approach the flea beetle issue.

Tim Parton is on the forum, I’ll tag him in.

We appreciate the feedback. We are constantly amazed how fast the magazine is still growing.

Thanks @Chris F .

The question about the "anger & frustration" actually came via my 9 year old daughter, who thought it was funny.

On the Johnson-Su, if Tim Parton can provide more detail about his system I'd be very happy, as I am a bit of an anorak with composty stuff :).

The magazine really is very good - personally I like the inclusion of some of the more thought provoking articles and stuff on the hinterland between conservation agriculture and (e.g.) organic farming.

It is the only farming related magazine I actually read, rather than skimming through. There is always plenty of thought provoking stuff.
@Chris F Perhaps there might be options for YouTube recommendations, I watched this last night and can recommend

The outer fabric (tea bag ) is hessian, i intend to apply it next to the seed using a peristaltic pump fitted to my drill as a compost slurry, this will provide lots of fungal spores to hopefully repopulate the rhizosphere.

Thanks @parker . Where did you get the hessian sack from? I'm going to get on the lookout for one of those. When you make the tea, do you just put a hose into it and drain it off into something? I'm just thinking through the practicalities of doing it, and any (step by step for an idiot) instructions will be very much appreciated...

Thanks again,
NP.

Hessian i get from local my supplier (Telford Farm Machinery).
I wash the microbes of the compost to put down as a slurry (through a filter), next to the seed. For compost Tea i put the compost in a tea bag and brew for 24hours
