Direct drilling rape after silage cut

In the spring I put some ryegrass/rape mix over some bare patches in the field before locking up for silage as a patching mix, just happened to be spare. I didn’t think it had taken until after I took first cut when it came through in the field with a fury. The patches of rape were really good. It got me thinking has anyone had any success with direct drilling straight after cutting without a glyphosate application. I ask this as I have a cut down at the moment and would be keen to have a field of rape or rape grass mix for winter keep.
