Direct drilling Winter Wheat now

Most people are drilled up I expect but has anyone got any to do or done it in the past?

I've got a field I want to plant and the window is open until mid February but we're in a good dry spell now. It's not quite dry enough yet I think, but do I risk it soon?

I didn't plant it in the autumn because I've got a Claydon and there was too much grass for the tines to pull through without dragging up. I grazed it with sheep and then glyphosate late September.

I pulled discs through part of the field quite shallow in October as an experiment to see what was best. This might prove problematic as that will take longer to dry. Tempted to run through again on that part to get it aired a bit.

Anyone got any experience with this?

planted zyatt winter wheat late november 2021 after the field was sprayed off twice prior to planting then ploughed and drilled with power harrow combination and as the ground was so dry the field was rolled, the wheat established really good better than some planted october 2021.

I drilled an ex pea field in jan 20, no till with the 750. Feb 20 was very wet here (155mm) and the field ponded a few times, thought the wheat had no chance, but it came up ok, yield was around 7.5t/Ha.
To counter that I planted some end of Jan 2020 in some conditions better than a lot of October, we had a similar amount of rain it all ponded as we had some crazy intensity rains in feb and did 5t/ha.

it really depends what feb and March will be like as to how well it does
