I love the effect of the guttlers through the slurry applied before drilling.

Siskin milling wheat planted 5th October after oilseed rape. This is my first season of strip tillage after years of deep non inversion tillage.

There must be some worms around already to feed the moles??

In the background I have stubble turnips ready for sheep grazing over the winter.

What do you reckon your % establishment losses have been with the Claydon? Big topic of discussion for us this year with the JD for comparison.

I don't know. With variable rate seed based on establishment rates I wasn't going to spend much time on plant counts TBH but I might do a few. The picture was taken in a reasonable bit of the field. I promise to publish the yields though.

Looks alright to me, rows will thicken out soon enough, I know the Claydon is the same spacing as my DTS but the rows do look wide apart! What was the kg/ha?

That's what the Internet is for :)

Can you tell us about the slurry application @Will Blackburn ?

Note that we are not in an NVZ. Nevertheless the plan is for an even application but with a dual spreader and variable dairy muck the inevitable happens. Fortunately the weather was dry and it crusted over the light ground. Still had to jet wash the coulter assembly after.

An overdose of slurry typically with an umbilical is a massive worm killer. Fair few farms going back to tankers because they are more economical at lower rates.

Errr, that ain't no cc, it v OSR,:shy:,
The soil type is sandy loam over clay, previous crops OSR,wheat, linseed.
The crop also received 10t/ha of fym, non nvz.
Wheat is Graham, drilled 26/9 @ 150kg, v's sprayed with 1.5l/ha of 480 glypho day before drilling, and has since been sprayed with Ductis to finish them off.
I know all about how slugs feed, and was very surprised that they preferred the wheat over the ORS, but they did.

I guess maybe, in this case, bang goes the theory.

That was just me being daft. I saw so much cereal straw at the bottom I didn't know what the last crop was until I looked at the taller stubble standing up.

Doh! :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
