@Brisel had you done anything to the stubble in the autumn? Was the residue baled? It certainly looks a better design than the older version I have demoed in the past.

Spring oats sown after spring barley. Straw baled & a cover crop broadcast into the standing barley crop in late July which didn't take that well, so not much in the way of residue left. This one was the show stand machine & is a couple of years old - the newer ones have a few tweaks but only on the frame, not the coulters.

He needs to weight it properly, and possibly look at duals. If you're scrabbling the wheelmarks will be poor.

. My little t6 160 walks away with my 3m, putting beans in on the second to deepest hole.

The 724 on my demo needed some cast iron. Any kind of slope and the tyres were scrabbling a bit too much for my liking. Wheel slip on no till causes the worst kind of surface compaction IMO.

Another jump in the deep end experiment for a new to DD guy. Spring barley into spring barley stubble. Last winters dumping ground for muck. Mates Horsch just converted to 5 inch dutch doubles this spring. Been playing with it in a grass field as well will get some photos.

Can you do anything with those wheelings to level them up? Nice growth in the plants, so the topsoil looks ok now.

So I want to role this, any big reason why not? And secondly, was going to do it early evening after dark when it cools down for slugs. Is that the best time?

I don't think it really matters when you roll it, as long as you're not damaging the seedlings. I'd do it in the sun if you're worried about slugs - any disturbance will be in high temperatures & a stressed slug is more likely to die in the heat.

A tine drilled crop by the Horsch might be best rolled if there are any clods around the seed. Just don't do it when wet.

I was thinking in the cool early evening the slugs are more likely to be on the surface and exposed to roller.

@Rihards,Although off topic I would like to know more about agriculture in Latvia, have you been asked about it by other TFF members ,in other sections of TFF?
Only asking about the country to educate myself,as very rarely hear about Latvia’s agriculture. Thank you.
