The 'other' perspective of DD is no worse than any 'other' establishment system in my area this year other than the DD was a cheaper fail:p

Some ploughed & p/harrowed twice then drilled, simba solo & vaddy systems next to mine has failed + my soil is still in decent condition

Some more info re the 2nd photo's above

Swedes sown approx 600 metres above sea level. Had Olsen P level of 9. We drilled it with a blend of urea and DAP giving the plant 100 kg of N/ha and 60 kg of P/ha. Prior to sowing we broadcasted super on the block providing another 50 kg of P/ha and 60 kg/ha of S and lime at 5T/ha. There is also a trial plot in this field investigating the varying levels of P and the effect on the plant. Once trials are completed and results published i should be able to post pics and results

The other photo's only difference was no lime, and slightly closer to sea level, and was kale instead of swedes

check out directdriller for some more pics re sowing cereals, if interest i will post some in here also

V interested to hear more about this. What seed rate of Swedes do you use and what variety?

James have you got the batter boards as well as the harrows on that drill?

I see your not using the markers have you gone auto-steer?

Cheers

Phil

Hi Phil. No batter boards, got the mini press wheels then harrows. Its useful to be able to lift the wheels out of work but still use harrows, much more flexible than last year.
Topcon, very pleased with it.
How are you getting on?

Am I allowed in here then?

A couple of short videos of me drilling today. I did have a few problems with too many pods in places, but nothing too serious just where I didn't back up quick enough with the combine, apart from that it's going great:)

Hi

Aparima swedes. Sowing rate of 1.5kg/ha.

Rotation normally swedes, kale, kale, grass

Depending on weed spectrum we put in a HT variety which means we can put on Tella to control weeds. Tella is basically chlorsulfron

What else do you want to know?
