What spacings , assume you're sowing wheat
166.66mm, 18 tines in a 3m

I've been waiting for this, as you've got me thinking of a drill pimp with weaving's being just down the road from me.
what does a sabre tine unit cost ?
looks a great job and more proof you don’t need to spend fortunes on new machinery
4 rows of tines should provide decent trash flow even at the spacing you have gone for
good to see the hopper being put to useful work
Why have you left a bigger gap in the frame between the second and third row of tines?View attachment 916917

So the first 3 are some setting out then tacking of the main box into the laser profiles and the end plates. The laser profile plates are 15mm and I wanted them to form the basis of the toolbar so all the load went through them to the link arms, they also made assembly much easiers as i just slotted everything in and then levelled up in all directions before tacking. With a little bit of tinkering they also made the hangers for the following harrow frame.
Edit yes it is on the worst bit of floor I own but waiting for the electrician to couple up one of the new buildings with power

That looks an awesome job [emoji106] one thing I would say is to tighten the weaving clamps as tight as you can around the box; I initially just did them ‘tight’ but the toblerone rubbers deform and the tine is no longer vertical. Luckily it was only 2 or 3 so then I loosened them; re-assembled with about ten people’s hands helping and tightened them ‘FT’ with rattle gun on max. Literally so both pieces of clamp touch. Initially I liked the triangular rubbers but I think the more conventional cylindrical ones would fare better imo and return to their resting position more readily when pulled back.
You'll find that as long as you leave the trash attached to the ground you'll go through some serious amounts with no issues.
Something that might help you would possibly be a 3m press/packer/under the front hopper, it'll roll everything down the way you're travelling.
I was also looking at putting a 3m guttler on my KV, but in the end I went gd and only have the KV for super wet conditions. Not sure when they'll happen though as the gd has coped easily this year, including drilling within 24hrs of an inch of rain falling , that was beans going in.
That'd benefit if the trash is laid against the direction of travel, you'll find though the only time you'll have issues is doing anywhere that's double drilled, ie headland crossovers.Yeah i was thinking that, i did wonder if i could make/find some discs to go under the front hopper that matched the tine spacing so as long as you weren't on a real bend they would cut for the tines
Looks an excellent job. Should be well proud.
How much do you reckon it all cost? Within budget?
Looks impressive and most importantly simple!View attachment 916979

No major mods so far but going to add a small cooling rad to the return pipe from the fan just to help the tractor.

what size box section do the tine units bolt to? I’ve an old implement in the nettles that might become a winter project if suitable!
