Disappointed by cattle hurdles

That looks very much as though the materials have been galvanised as individual parts before being glued (attempted) back together along with a quick squirt of galv spray to blend it in.

The joints will be weak and not take a lot of abuse and likely be rusting within a few weeks.

I'd be returning them.

Took delivery of some cattle hurdles today. Been waiting nearly 6 weeks for them and got to say I am really disappointed by the standard of them. They were relatively cheap, from a new company which I will not name but the welding looks like it was done blindfolded. Am I being too fussy?
Buy cheap buy twice. Even the best brand hurdles have got lighter from the early ones .

Guaranteed, the welds are not galvenised but cover by some aerosol paint. They’ve either welded them up from galv pipe or trued to re weld them once they’re out of the bath. Welding galv is a big no no anyhow so how can a firm be doing that.

Not the best pic of the whole hurdle but all I've got at the minute. Lugs are too low for my liking aswell but can work with that by mixing with iae ones but the welds just look far too weak.
yep those lugs are to low, IAE is about 90 quid so you got three for the price of two
whats the weight like in comparison with a IAE ?
Mind you some hurdles are to heavy, whats the point if you can't carry them

If that is a delivered price then I would say £60 was a fair price for that hurdle. They wont last, but then at £60 you're not paying for something that will last.
Fair price for that Jesus... it's unusable scrap that needs to be sent back, would you trust that between you and a crackers heifer

£25 for delivery. I wasn't expecting them to last forever but I would expect them to do a job. I fear one push and they'll be off.

Weight wise they are lighter than IAE. Top and bottom bar are thicker on the IAE, same size throughout on these.

depends what you are trying to pen up I spose
best would be to try to get your money back failing that some replacements that are welded correctly but if they won't play ball I spose you are stuck with them, it will be a bugger re-welding it but that's what I would do with the worst bits if you get stuck with them

They will be used for young cattle off the fell and semi feral pony youngsters in combination with a wooden collecting pen. I cant see them lasting two minute if one tries to test them, which they will. I have asked them to refund or replace so will see what they say. So disappointed with them.

Not safe to use, they will burst apart if cattle push them, IAE ones do that because the steel is so thin, if someone got hurt because the welds broke who is at fault !?????. Send them back. Best place for them is in the scrap heap.

some of those welds look like they've still got the slag on them, or maybe more slag than weld
There is definitely more slag than weld on some of them. There are also more air holes than weld in others. It is like the stuff I used to do when I first started welding and didnt have a clue how to set a welder up but at least I knocked the slag off and tried to make them presentable. My welding isn't up to much now but that is just awful.
