They had one out in NZ last season on demo, JD were struggling to sell it (I think it took over a year I recon). The seed rate adjuster is so ancient. You'd want to rip the seed & fert bin off & put air on, it's that bad!

I pretty much agree because mine is an old version of this. Adjusting seed etc. is a pain. That said it is consistent and accurate once you've set it up. I bought an old accord hopper but have never had the confidence in my abilities to set it up properly on the drill so its still a box drill - mind so are Vad Rapids at 3m.

Interesting. I have a 1590 box drill, fluted meters. It is truly old school meter rate adjust, but it has been quite reliable and with a small bit of study, it can be accurate enough.

But still, ripping the bin off and putting air on aint all that bad of an idea.

what disc drill did yer buy ben ??

more moveing parts press wheels etc etc longer drag bars all hate hills but do a good job on clovers and things needed better seeding depth big grains can get away with a diffrence in seeding depth same with ryegrass can handle things a bit better

bought a 4 meter 750A Not perfect but doing a lot better than we would have with a renovator. Will do a lot of cultivated ground too.

Wish I could get dedicated horsch Pronto or the like for worked ground.

yea thats the thing Ben almost want a air seeder with a hitch frame so can run eather tines or single disc or a off set twin .. big areas thats where the tow behind air carts work well can run any thing in front rollers tillage discs seeding tines or discs etc

An interesting though JD, the down side with an air cart is that you loose the weight for penetration & it makes a long train for a 4 meter set up lol.
I like to keep the weight close to the tractor for hill work.

The Vadistard Carrier was going along with that idea, You are right if you could have two drills but only one seed hopper etc it would be a saving.

So far the only job I'm not happy with is one that I drilled into stones. Half the paddock is good the outside rounds suck as well as where I started in the middle. Can't remember changing settings, but I think I might have increased the down pressure. It's un irrigated so that's probably the difference. Went & re drilled some of it yesterday.

I know Ausralia and NZ a bit but really upside down planter which is a blend of North and south American concepts.
